Is there a real difference between the red kit and black kit? Do you have to grease them if you use them for daily driving? Is squeaking a big problem and binding? Is it better to go with nismo rubber ones for more money.Does anyone have first hand experience with any of this stuff? Any input would be great thanks.

i run full energy suspension with stance gr coilovers. the entire car feels like it has been fully restored. suspension feels great and i dont feel any type of 'binding', whatever that is. going over speedbumps, or driving slow on rough streets, you can definitely hear the difference, but i think it sounds cool. mind you, i rarely drive this car...

i don't have MUCH experience with energy suspension components, but i run the prothane master bushing kit, and it is like a brand new car. Well worth the price to replace all the bushings.
and from my understanding color is just that, a color.

Difference is color.
Urethane needs to be lubricated and often, one of the drawbacks of using it. Without proper maintenance you will get plenty of squeaks and noises, and the issue here is 99% of people who use urethane bushings fail to realize this or do anything about it.
Nismo rubber bushings are therefore a better choice for those typical people who never maintain their car properly. Rubber bushings need no service once installed. The drawback here is affording them.

The black set has graphite embedded into them, adding a self lubricating property and help reduce squeeks. Red is just red. I'd go with the black unless you really want the red for how it stands out.

spherical bearings = solid, unlike the polyurethane that energy suspension bushings are made out of. spl parts sells the spherical bearings for the rear multi-link.

Still have to grease the black ones, just not as often. I've read anywhere from 8-12 months, so once a year shouldn't be to much of a headache.

so before I install the bushings I should drill and tap for grease fittings on the knuckle and put groves on the bushings for the grease to flow?

What grease do you use? Lithium? Energy Suspension told me to use "Anti Seize"--they squeak like mad a month later.

I'll be doing this on the uprights soon.
He says he uses Lubrimatic water resistant marine bearing and bushing grease. Can be purchased at HD.
I used the ES grease when I first got my bushings. It kept things quiet for about 10k.
Or you can get the expensive stuff.

I've noticed if the bush sticks out past the inner metal sleeve it will bind against the brackets after being torqued. It's a good idea to trim the bush down a little so this does not happen.
I'm sure they last a while but those pillowballs will wear out and begin to be loose over time... especially if the car is daily driven.
The Nismo ones need to be tightened with wheels on the ground which can be a bitch.
