S-Chassis ducting thread

hey guy's i'm going to be doing some ducting over the winter on the 2jz coupe.

I was just looking for some ideas as to how or what you did to your car's and if the car runs and cooler?

what would be the best material to use? just a thin piece of sheet metal or some sort of thin aluminum sheet.

It would be easier to help you if you posted a less vague description rather than just "ducting". What are you looking to run the ducting to, brakes, engine compartment, a fluid cooler (oil, ps, etc.). Not trying to be an ass, but just a thought.

As far as brakes, you can run a naca duct in the bumper, weld a piece tubing to the dust shield, and connect the duct to the tubing with some high-temp hose. Check out Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies - Home Page (http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/home.asp) for the ducts and hosing.

For the engine compartment there's always a hood scoop, though it can look like crap if not done right, or the more extreme like the s13 that you have pictured. And there is always the hood lift mod, where you space up the back of the hood from the hinges, but too me that just makes the hood look like it doesn't fit right.

And the s14 that you pictured is a making a front splitter which is more of an aerodynamic upgrade. Again I don't mean to, or want to, sound like an ass, but just saying.

i agree it would help if you stated what is it that you are trying to duct air to... however thank you so far for your initial contributions, some of those pictures are sexy.

& yes front splitters have more of an aerodynamic aspect w/ the whole low/high air pressure blah blah, but they would also help cooling capabilities of the radiator/oil coolers/ etc much in the same way that those 'radiator panels' do. 2 benefits in one upgrade. yay.

i geuss i made the thread for any kind of ducting that s-chassis guy's do.

the ducting i am looking for is more-less for cooling of the radiator/oil/trans coolers.

also from what i remember the Green S14 splitter is used for cooling.

i know there are a lot of ingenious folks on zilvia so im disappointed no one else has contributed. i just found this, in regards to brake cooling. its a mustang, but its the same principle. Buy the stock under tray stuff and go from there if you don't have time.

No reason a stock setup should be overheating like you're saying.

I had to do something similar to that green senior when I had my sr due to the fmic being out too far. Piece of aluminum sheet metal hidden under the car connecting the underside of the fmic to the core support. Prolly do the same with the 2j between the core support and the bumper if it shows signs of running hot
