I am looking for a cam set up for my gt2871 .86. I want to max out the turbo so I'm hoping for 400-420hp in the future. I have everything I need except for cams. My question what you who recommend 264/272, 272/272, 280/280 what have you.

Mods:
Stock bottom end
Head:
port and polish
moderate port with tapering
manley titanium spring and retainers
manley valves
tomei solid lifters

z32 MAF
FMIC
Stock TB
Greddy intake manifold
3" turbo back
megan exhaust manifold
550cc injectors- I know these will max out on this set up only going to run 300-350 for now
Enthapy tune- not using anything else with it

Thanks for the recommendations, any helpful comments are welcome.

Dont use 272s or bigger...itsll hurt your setup more than anything.

Run 256-260 range cams to keep up the response. BC cams are your best bet...they are exact copies of Tomei cams.

Any suggestions on the thickness of the headgasket I should get?

Have your head decked (at least) if the head is off, and the bottom end too if you can (sometimes people have the whole motor out and this is not an inconvenience)....

I am using Apexi 1.1 mm....it's kinda pricy, but all of the good headgaskets are....quite a few people on here with SRs swear by them.

I used Tomei 260's with Tomei Type A springs with a GT3071 low mount, internal WG.
Made 457hp at 20 psi on that setup.
After i upgraded the turbo to a GT3582, i made 530 hp, on those same camse.

Great cams.

I am converting to Solid Lifters now, as i am aiming for Higher RPM and power, and have the complete set for sale if you want.
350$ for the cams, and 100$ for the spring, for a complete set.
PM me if your interested.

Good luck.

what about a staggered 264/272 setup it seems like you would be able to achieve the best of both worlds?

I run HKS 264 step 1s on both sides w/ my T3/T4 50 trim. Could use some step 2s but it makes climbing power all the way till 8,000rpm. I really dont think you'll benefit that turbo with doing a 272 or larger, even w/ the .86 housing that wheel won't flow superb above 7500-8 anyway.
