Thinking of doing RB25 swap ive heard that by using the SR20 trans you then dont have to shorten up the driveshaft but this limits you to 400hp wich is right about my goal for the car. MY question is would the KA trans work the same and if so minus the power limit what should i look out for? Also what is involved in shortening a drive shaft? is this a big process? can you get a custom sized shaft? $$$? Im just trying to get everything before i do the full swap.
Only a RB trans will fit on the RB25. The others need an adapter plate.

If RB trans is only fit what do i do about the driveshaft? Shorten? New one? its a 95 S14 i know thats the same chassis as R33 does that make a difference?
Either get a pre-made driveshaft that matches your mounts/engine/chassis or find a local Drive shaft shop. They will ask for measurements like this THE DRIVESHAFT SHOP (http://www.driveshaftshop.com/howtomeasure.php)

well you could always go with a rb20 trans which works perfect with the stock 5 speed drive shaft, you wont need to change it considering your car is currently 5 speed

or get the mckinney driveshaft. you could use a Z32 transmission with RB25 bellhousing as well.
edit: Z32 TT Trans

S14 and R33 are NOT the same chassis.

man id stay with the 25 tranny as it is much stronger than the ka/sr, and as far as the driveshaft is concerned you can get a custom one made for under 500 easily.

if you want, i can get the owner of our building, who owns a driveshaft shop, to replicate my driveshaft. its a mckinney driveshaft for the RB25 trans.
