I am currently doing an engine swap a S14 SR20 swap on my S13 240sx chassis. I bought the motor off JMI. The motor looks pretty good, but after some closer inspection my engine harness looks like it has been modified.
It looks like it has been some what repaired, but it look like a gong show. some wires are taped together. So i am not sure what i want to do. I have no clue to how the engine harness is suppose to look like.
I have searched around for a used s14 engine harness, but it seems like they are somewhat rare.
So my options
1. Fix up some of the wires, then rewire the interior harness and hope the motor starts with no problem?
2. Go to the dealership and buy a new engine harness. (Very Expensive.)
3. Look up the FSM and try to re wire everything
4. Send it out to a wiring specialist and get it rewired.
5. Ignore it completely and hope for the best.
6. other options?
I am on a tight budget and money is a bit tight on me. I don't want to spend allot of money on this project.
So i need you opinions. What should i do??

Don't hold me to it, but honestly that looks like factory wire wraps.

If you're paranoid you should try to download an S14 SR zenki/kouki FSM and trace out every single wire.

S14 SR into S13 is easy though. All the work will be done under the dash.

You should have wipers, ABS, and ECU relay bundled in the S14 engine harness. On the S13 these are on the body.

You can just leave everything on the engine harness and splice into the body where needed.

It's a lot tougher than S13 SR into S13 so don't expect a lot of help on this swap.

Those are factory tapes. Nissan uses black and white tapes on that as well as other sections of the harness (IIRC, mostly on shielded wires). Underneath should be some black goo.

Yeah, it looks like ass. If they're all intact then you should be good to go.

Its the factory harness. I put a s14 sr20 into my s13 as well. Information on modifying the harness to suit the s13 was very hard to find. I ended up ordering a CD which showed me what to cut and splice.

Here is a link which might help you. I don't know if this guy is correct. The s14 sr20det is completely different than the s13 sr20det. Don't even look at the heavy throttle bs - it will totally mess you up.
