My sr20det swap (s14 zenki) came with a very oil and grime filled T28 BB turbo that is going to need a new chra. Im not going that route and am going to drop the coin for a new BB turbo. I dont want to stay T28 and have been shopping around and researching. I think im down to a few choices.
The goal 300+ hp (more as i drop more money into it, in the future)
supporting mods : 550 + inj, walbro 255, tune,
The turbo --- what do you think of this, I want to stay T25 flange for now.

Im afraid the 3076 will rape my spool up.... Thanks for any input

Yeah either turbo will make a good power. The 2871 will spool faster though unless you go twinscroll. But why are you getting 550cc injectors? Waste of money with a turbo like that. Get at least 740cc injectors.
Then when you want a little more power your can just get a retune.

^^^Agreed. gt2871r is what i have, and honestly, it is somewhat scaret for me at the moment. made 313 hp @ 285 max torque on dynojet with 850cc power fc with base map from steve shadows. Stock cams and running rich at the moment.
Dont do 550cc!!! You will be wasting money with 550cc with a gt2871r. I maxed out mines at 1.1 bar on the gt2871. Get 740s.

Thank you all for your input, 2871 it is. I will definitely go with 740cc inj as well, thanks alot.

What do you think about A/R, there is 4 choices, .63 .64 .82 and .86, should i stay low with .64 to preserve spool up at lower rpms? I dont know which would be best I guess. Thanks again for your input.

imo, .63 or .64. Mines is the .63 i believe?

Go with the .63 if you are keeping the 7k redline

Why not go with a GT28RS? aka Disco with no lag!. Would be perfect for your setup. 555cc are fine upto 350whp on pump gas. I don't care what people say, but GT2871r even with the small trim is freaking laggy to me, however the top end is awesome. For daily street driving, i'd stick go with SPUD. It's Disco Disco Time haha.

you guys are setting this guy up for failure.
The .63 and .82 is T3 flanged.
the .64 and .86 are T2 flanged.
and dont get the s15 style compressor housing
go with the 56trim 3"inlet it flows better or go with the 4'inch t04e housing which is even better.
if you have any questions let me know i will help you out. i hope u didnt order a .63 yet or you might as well get a T3 manifold along with it.
if you go with the 3076r T2 make sure u get an external wastegate and it will be fine and has alot of headroom. there is a guy on fresh alloy forums that made 450+ with that turbo.
if you are getting a disco potato you might as well just get the s15 turbo as its jus about a 15-25whp difference def not worth it IMO.
you can hit anywhere from 280-320 whp with an s15 T28 with cams and supporting mods.

I didn't realize he wanted to stay T2. IMO that disco potato is way over-rated.
Do you want to stop at 3xx horsepower? if so then the 2871 will be fine, but I myself wouldn't want to spend BB turbo money and still have stock turbo EVOs giving me competition. And that 2871 will be at a higher psi than say a 3071, which is a great turbo and very efficient. With the 3071 you will be at a lower psi at you target hp, which would make it safer on the motor.
Its difficult for a stranger to recommend a turbo for you since they dont know what kind of driving you do or what your intentions are.

exactly what im thinking the evo ix's stock turbo has seen over
[email protected]+psi and puts out more power than a 2871r SR car. but yet that turbo flows less which is what i dont understand, and i think alot of us baby our 2871r's at 18-21psi because i go on evo and srt forums and they are pushing 26 psi on their 2871r's and put out alot more power than us.

lol right on man!!! i always check the dsm sites because they always know how to make power. I think a lot of the SR community babies they're cars, probably because we have to go through more to get our engine swaps and such.

Glad to hear it made some power with that map!
All in all it depends on the displacement.
A small 2871R is going to spool up extremely fast on a KA... however you don't need too much rev on that motor because the motor doesnt like hanging out higher than 6900 RPMS etc.
If you're only looking for 300-350 WHP, I say 2871R as well
