So i removed my head today after purchaseing a 10mm allen wrench. The head is surpriseingly in good shape minus some rust from the spark plugs being left out. Anyways on to the problem.
To bring cylinder # 1 to TDC i hooked my socket on the pulley bolt "for the crank" and could not turn it over with all my might. Am i a retard and need to remove the pulley before trying to turn the motor over? or will it turn over with the pulley still connected?

Well if the cylinder showed rust....then the rings will have rust...use some anti seize on the cylinder walls like Marvel Mystery Oil or Kroll oil. Let it sit and soak in....

Ok so do you think like a cap full of engine oil in each cylinder and let it soak over night then try to manually turn the pulley in the mornin?

So the head is off?
Chain is probably binding keeping it from turning

wow...a woman just made me feel like an idiot lol...Diddnt even think of that....thatd make sense. Since the Idle'r pulley is just sitting there unconnected to anything.
So how would i turn it over with the head off?

lol im a guy, its a pic of my wife lol
Dont worry i get that alot
just hold the chain up while you turn it. just turn it by hand at the crank pully, there will be no resistance so it will be easy

Something else i was considering is this, Connected to the crankpulley by the belt is 2 other pulleys. Are either of these electronicly controled? Or will it all turn together?
All of my belts are still connected. Only things removed where wat was absolutely necessary to remove head "Headers , intake , cams , head bolts and loosend the idle'r pulley"
I just purchased the car from a guy that said it hasnt ran in about 2 years to rebuild for my fiance "she loves the flippy lights" so it is possible that the pistons are fuzed to the cylinder walls im gonna do as stated and put some oil untop of the piston heads but how much should i put in each cylinder "oil"?
