so im driving my s14 w/ s13 sr and it starts to sound like a wrx. so i assume one cylinder is getting no spark/fuel. get home let it idle and pull each plug from the coil pack. the cylinder closest to the firewall(is this#4?) doesnt change the idle when unplugged. so i move the coil packs around, problem does NOT follow pack, stays in same cylinder.
so now im thinking wiring? or injectors......possibly spak plug? i need to find a socket for that. now i checked all wiring harness plugs nothin was loose or obviously the culprit.
what do u suggest i do next? i dont know how to test injectors so i need help there. would my ignitor be bad if its powering the other three cylinders.

you can get a 9v battery and hook it up to your injector in a cup or something, with fuel in it.

Could be any number of things. Check the easy ones first like grounds and coil pack subharness.

harness looks good.

i assume u cant run them dry?
EDIT: look what i just found! does this mean the piston touched the plug? or due to heat? high egt's? should i be whttp://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m249/kitefl/IMG_3906.jpg

Change it and see if it happens again. I think it would look a little more beat up if the piston hit it.

WOW... hopefully your piston dont hit it...
but most likely not, maybe the gap on your sparkplug just opened up.
n e ways gl with the fix man

lol, two threads on this same issue. The piston didn't hit your spark plug.
Everyone, most engines these days have a hemisphere combustion chamber, and the plugs sit up inside the head a little ways. For a better Idea, next time you see someone working on a head thats off an engine, throw a spark plug in and look. I'm not saying its impossible, but highly unlikely the piston hit the spark plug. Pistons hit valves because valves can often open further into the area of stroke, or in worse case situations, loose the retainer and just drop right in.
The other thread has more useful information on troubleshooting this.
