can S14 SR20DET sleeves handle 400hp??

basically the thread title. but basically i was told a stock sleeved SR cant handle 400hp even with upgraded pistons and rods. now i know this isnt true but decent topic either way since this dude had to have heard this from some asshat. :ddog:

Why cant a stock block, stock bore bottom end not handle 400whp? There are more than enough 600whp stock bottom end SRs out there to prove other wise.

General consensus is that 87mm is the most you want to bore out the bottom end. Anything more than that, you'd want to go aftermarket sleeves.

But yea, 400 hp is no issue for these motors. I'd say if anything, put a set of CP's in it, and call it a day (like I have since done).

i know theyre fine, i just started it because a guy that was interested in the short block i have for sale said that there was no point to put pistons and rods in an SR without sleeving it because the sleeves go at 400hp anyway lol.

Stock Sleeves can handle 6-700 hp as tested several times by a couple shops but...errr

Yeah not sure where that came from. I ran around at 420 whp for several years beating the piss out of my STOCK bottom end redtop loved it, car ate it up, miss it :( crying haha

Dartons are nice though, especially if you want to open up the bore a bit
