I found out that the KA24DE I had dropped in had a bad starter. I picked up another starter from a local guy and bench tested both of them. The one that came on the motor would engage, but the starter motor wouldn't turn. The one I picked up engaged and the motor worked fine.

So, I put it on the engine and tried to turn over the motor. I heard the starter engage but it wouldn't turn the motor over. Tried it several times but nothing. Tried manually cranking the engine, but it only went a little bit and was at the point of compression. Called up the guy I got the engine from and he said that it was sitting for a while. Also, when I changed the oil there wasn't much when I bleed it.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try to push start it. What could the problem be? Is it because the motor was sitting for a while, as I'm sure it isn't the starter anymore.
Thanks!

Get some marvel mystery oil. Pull all the plugs and drop an ounce in each cylinder and then crank over by hand a couple times with the plugs out.

If you can't do that, the motor is fubar.

battery fully charged?

This sounds stupid, but did you check to see if there were something physically preventing the engine from rotating? You never know what crazy people stuff in their engine.

Haha. Already have, but I'll try again

I'll try it. What exactly does it do? Didn't have a battery for it so I bought a brand new one. Charged it for a while, but I'll if I can fully charge it.

make sure you have a good engine\starter ground to the chassis. had a buddy with a similar prob. he ended up having a bad starter ground due to some one painting it.

I had about 3 gallons of fuel in my crankcase. That definitely kept it from cranking. FML.
