cometic or felpro ??

i need a new gasket and i have hard time choosing im kinda on a budget but want my car to last pretty long without blowing a hg ...

so a friend of mine that helps me with my motor said to get a cometic or better but ive read and searched and people were saying that they sucked so im confuse should i go with felpro which is cheaper or go with cometic ??

Get a fel-pro.. People say Cometic sucks becasue they don't know wtf they are doing/talking about.. To use a Cometic or any other MLS style headgasket you have to have the head and block surfaced to get a proper seal.. I'm sure plenty of guys just throw it on thinking it will work, end up with leaks, then claim it sucks..

Anyways, I'm using a fel-pro on my 500hp ka-t.. Plenty others too.. I prefer fel-pro because it works and if something does go wrong, the headgasket will blow instead of your pistons or what not.. With a cometic, it's so strong that something else will probably give first..

If you're planning on keeping it NA, use a felpro. If you're going to turbo it, I say get a cosworth. It's a little more than cometic, but you get the peace of mind of having a good HG. Like mentioned above check to make sure the deck is true. Even with a felpro you need to have true mating surfaces, you just have higher tolerances than with a metal HG.

As stated above, MLS style (http://zilvia.net/f/#) HG's require you to have the head surfaced and block/front cover decked for squareness.

Cometic MLS HeadGasket's work fine. As with any MLS HG, when an improper installation is performed, they typically leak oil at the front cover mating area.

I'd recommend using head studs such as ARP, especially if you plan to run a performance Fel-Pro (Good HG IMO) HG in a turbo engine build.
