I'm Having some problems deciding what type of Power FC i should buy, because when i got the engine it came with an ECU I dont remember what ECU because the ECU was stolen from me last year when I took it off to send to enthalpy for a tune along with my Toyota 4Runner.

So my questions are :

Do I buy a red top PFC I found at a great deal " used "?

will the commander work with the engine I have if its for a red top and I buy a red top PFC ?

I'm also doing a wire tuck but without cutting too many things, I'm extending the headlights/flashers/ CAS/ MAF/ a few other things but soldering them properly and heat shrinking etc...

Do I have an Early Black Top SR20 Engine or later gen 1996.8 and up?

I have a GT2860RS Real Garrett turbo with Z32 MAF

Should I buy a new unit for my blacktop with L-Jetro?

Should I buy a new unit for my blacktop with D-Jetro? What are the advantages of going MAF-Less? I know if I pop a coupling I'll make it home...

Does the D-Jetro give idling issues and use more fuel? Is it older technology?

Any other possible things that can cause the problems.. ?

I got the VIN # from the front clip my motor came from : HEre are details.

You can use the red top ecu on a black top. The only major difference between a red and black is the actual tune in the ecu, and since your replacing it with the PFC it doesn't matter. The biggest advantage to a MAP based unit is the fact you are not limited by a MAF or have to worry about a MAF going bad. I prefer the MAP based unit, but you should also talk to your tuner, they may prefer one over the other which could get you a better end result.
