First off I have searched and searched this site and many others for help on this and cant find anything.
I am able to get a s15 turbo for really cheap but, it doesnt spin freely. No shaft play low mileage. You can spin it pretty easily with your fingers but it will not spin freely at all. Ive been told it could free up and run great once some oil gets in it or it could not work at all. Anyone know how to get it spinning good again? its just been sitting around for awhile.
I am in need of a new turbo cuz mine is blown and its my one and only car.

if a turbo sits for a while dry especially a used one the seals can go
if the turbo shaft gives you a hint of a grinding noise could just be rust or crud in the housing , take it to a shop see what they tell u worst comes to worst you can get a new one for like 6-7 brand new , or have some one rebuild it for 2-3
or rebuild it your self and have a shop balance it for u

S15 turbo = ball bearing turbo = non rebuildable. I say run oil into it and see if you can break loose what ever crap is in there before you try to run it.

Unless you got a T28 non-ball bearing instead. How sure are you that its an S15 T28? But hey, what could you lose in trying? Just try to get a much crud out of it and slap it on, maybe itll loosen up and work. No point of junking it if you already have it on hand.

the guy who swapped my car has a shop. he pulled it off an s15 sr himself. so im 99% sure its an s15. he said he would sell it to me for $100 so i thought it was worth a shot for that price.
