View Full Version : My car clicks and pops
You know after you've been driving for a while and you turn the car off and get out you can hear it makeing clicking/poping sounds? What is that and why does my car do it longer and louder than other cars I've heard doing it?

it is cause of the heat
when you shut it off then the colr air is making the poping sound the block is recompresing
about doing it longer i dont know all cars r different another thing you can check it the coolant

My car does the same thing, and it seems to do it for a long time, too. I don't think it's a problem.

Oddly enough, I never hear mine do it at all. My old truck did it for hours though..

It should click a little, it's normal. Temperature change, nothing more than that. I only hear it from my exhaust (now that I've put a GReddy on. Stock didn't do it.)

do u have an amp and a subwoofer?
no, just the stock audio for now. If I did have an amp and sub what would cause that type of sound, because I'm planning on getting subs eventually?

It's your cat......nothing to worry bout now. Cat converters get very hot and hold the heat (go ahead touch it!!). The clicking and popping noises r the different metals "moving around" as they expand and contract. If it glows red hot at night while running, it needs replacing. If not dont worry bout it!
I never knew that, thanks Yenpit!
so to really avoid that sound you have to make it straight pipe think... my car is straight pipe but it has that tick tick sound but not that popping thing...
