Timing Chain Tension

I just swapped the VTC gear on my SR and I was putting everything back together and noticed that I can push downwards on the timing chain between the cam gears and the intake cam will spin just slightly to allow the chain to droop in the middle.

is this normal? it doesn't seem like it. i didn't check for this prior to removing it.

the chain tensioner was removed and put back in as was the intake cam.

just trying to figure this all out.

A little slack is normal. How much slack are we talking about here? Pictures would be helpful. It's best to follow the FSM procedure on installing the chain tensioner.
