Ok first off ive looked every where, the picture thread, searched "pig nose modded bumper" along with some other phrases, googled and everything and only came accross about 2 pictures of something kind of what im looking for...

Anyway im looking to see pics of pignose bumpers with the center peice cut out, and along with that if anyone ever completely did away with the two fake grills? I guess like filled or "shaved" them. Im contemplating buying a pignose front end tonight because im hurting money wise and i need a front end among some other things to get my car back on the road. I really would like to save up for the silvia but right now, with the possibility of being jobless every other week i dont think thats possible. So yeah anyway you guys can post up some pics of what im looking for? or know if shaving the fake grills have ever been done?

I cut the upper vents out with a die grinder, when I get it painted I will post some pics. I wanted a source of fresh air directed right at the radiator. It will definatley serve that purpose, as far as not looking retarded it's hard to tell right now with all the paint scuffed up. In regards to cutting out the lower portion I am sure it can and has been done, but like was mentioned before the lower portion is going to sag like a mother!

i think if i use a chuki/pignose lip mounting hardware on the lip the bumper wont sag as much as some of you may think. When i put my pignose lip on my chuki it didnt sag really much at all.

do NOT cut out the vents

heres what you do.

you reach around (haha i said reach around) and pop out the little push washer things that hold the black plastic pieces on. theyre around the hood latch

then theres like 2 plastic rod things (haha i said reach around & rod in the same post LOLZZ) you push those suckers out

the plastic peices are held in with foam double sided tap

next step. goo-gone the foam tape residue leaving just the 4 holes total and the former grills into body colored sections. detail it up and it'll look way better and less pig-ish

lol as you can see in the picture it has infact been done before. also i don't understand what you guys are saying when you say leave the stock bumper stock, thats like saying leave the stock car stock. now what if you're like me just recently finished a CA swap and have an intecooler to big to even fit behind your bumper support? well ya throw out your bumper support measure up the dimensions of your intercooler and cut a nice square hole in the bottom. but covering up the fake vents looks kind of lame, my buddy took em out and then put actual metal mesh in there, looks 100 times better :) but now his grill is sitting on the floor of my daily driver, after i found it on a dirt road he was driving on.

Stock for stock I think the chuki bumper looks like a bag of dicks. And don't get me started on people that put zenki lips on the chuki / silvia bumpers. I also remember someone cut out the pig nose vents, and that looked like a bag of used assholes.

That looks B.A.!!!! I used to hate piggy front ends until I owned one, now I love it! I cut out my fake vents and noticed a considerable temp. drop on the highway! Im planning on running my oil cooler for the supercharger behind the new openings. Oil cooler fits perfectly!

the 89-90 front-end will always look "so-so." the only good version ive seen was when estevan modified it for mike's car in florida, the white coupe. that shit looked business, but then again the entire car was pretty nicely done.

some of this car modding shit just gets real stupid. installing parts just to be different is fun to an extent. like i was considering during my restoration to install the 180sx rear glass... and i ordered them, then i waited, then i said wtf am i waiting for. my car isnt right hand drive nor is it a 180sx. fuckit, i ordered the 240sx glass and was done. besides the numbers, the glass is the same - fucking pointless.

just like when i see people go through the trouble of doing a RHD swap, completely, utterly pointless bullshit.

the 89-90 front-end will always look "so-so." the only good version ive seen was when estevan modified it for mike's car in florida, the white coupe. that shit looked business, but then again the entire car was pretty nicely done.

Pignose is trash, there's a reason why it only lasted two years. Chuki and Kouki fronts bring the car out of the 80's and into the 90's.

Normal a couple of years ago, sure... but nowadays these kids are getting into the scene when normal is a busted knockoff aero kit with mexi-poke 20" Varrstoens and a stickerbombed fender. You've got to admit that car kinda harkens back to the good ol' days. Granted, it's nothing earth-shattering, and by no means is it pioneering any trends. Hell, it's not even close to living up to Toby's S13's last incarnation but compared to the beat 240s you normally see around this place any more, it's still 'clean.' (in other words: not been ruined yet) The thing I laugh at is the fact that people are using 'clean' as a term of reverence. Clean just means it's been well taken care of, not really something to look up to. My CR-V is 'clean,' where the hell are the people swinging from my nutsack?


As for the zenki vs. chuki argument, It's all a matter of personal preference, I prefer the look of 80's sports cars to the 90's. Cars in the 90's all just looked too generic for the most part. All the car manufacturers were playing it safe, making everything a round unimaginative blob of mediocrity on wheels.
In my personal opinion, Kouki>Zenki>Chuki.

Once mine is finished being put back together and I can take some decent pics I'll post up my pignose, but don't expect anything that'll rock your world as it won't be anything new.

ok look im just going to put it this way i may be 19 but i have love and respect for the s chassis. my age doesnt mean shit i know what clean is and that is a clean stock looking car. i dont feel that a body kit or some crazy aero is considered clean. i feel that clean is a stock looking mint body excellent paint kind of car. you think what you want but i have never once been in the scene or on the hype of 240s i bought one for a learning experiece and to enjoy it.

good ol days from when? there have been a lot of people here throughout the years that have build some really interesting cars. a clean and basic build was the one that estevan built with mike, that was a really fun coupe. estevan's blue car was also really nice. of course, i liked russ' stripped down s14... never have i seen that many things removed (or hidden) from a car. all of this will take a lot of time to search for if you guys want pics... but then you're still subject to criticizing them for this or that, being that todays standards have changed. parts are more available, the groundwork has already been set... so you fuckers really have it easy nowadays.

Yeah s12 lip because i couldnt find a pignose and when i did people are selling them for an outrageous price so i thought to retro fit a s12 lip. Came out okay most people like it at the meets. Some dont even know what it is lol.

As for the support i tried to center it but i couldnt drill through the bumper support so that was the only location to mount it.

the pig-nose and the square turn signals are synonymous with each other.

I was looking at my car today and thinking that the pig nose looks kind of cool. If there was a rep of ver. 3 available i would consider going that route instead of the GP sports rep i picked up. I'm sure it's out of production now though.

i'd give up my silvia front just to rock that right there, version 3 is the shit with sauce on top, love the pignose bumpers but they have to have the piggy lip on it

For those that removed the fake grills on the pignose lip, how exactly did you do it? Did you have to take off the bumper? Any help appreciated thanks

I used a high-speed rotary tool with a cutting disk rated for metal. IE a Dremel rotary. I used a smaller wood carver/smoother tip to take out the smaller chips left on the edges.

If you have a good enough heavy-duty straight edge you could probably do it. I cut a bit using my cheapo straight edge but the Dremel just made it loads easier. Just wear a mask. I did take off the bumper, there's no other way to do it

WOw, ive always wondered if those K-Style cars actually sold aero like that. Nice find.

Painted grilles black instead of that ugly gray color, looks much better than cutting them out IMO. Also, I filled in the NISSAN. Gives the bumper a little more flavor, and the ugly piggy needs it!

Funny how "wanted" the vents in the pignose are, Stock on our europe CA18DET s13's (WMIC). and i'd kill for a 240 bumper without one haha!

They go cheap now, make sure to get an actual Dremel not the copies. I got mine for $40 and it's the high speed version meant for steel etc. That's the first thing I hated about the pignose bumper.

Maybe I'll fab or purchase one of those air diversion plates to help the rad more.

I learned my lesson about buying wannabe dremels, that's why I said I need a good one lol. I actually have a cooling panel so I think this might help.
