okay so heres a simple problem, my temp starts to rise after i drive my car for a while.. its not the headgasket.. i need to match sensors because i have a s13 sr20det into a s14..
the question is when you say

"s14 gauge cluster- s14 temp sensor on engine"

are you talking about the: coolant temp sensor [THE ONE THAT GOES TO ECU] aka this one ( http://www.allproducts.com/ee/gwoyng/Product-200871111275-s.jpg )

or are you guys talking about the [TEMP GAUGE SENSOR] ( http://www.zcentre.co.uk/shop/images/water%20temp%20sensor%20rotated%20650.jpg )

i picked up a ka24de coolant temp sensor today ( http://www.allproducts.com/ee/gwoyng/Product-200871111275-s.jpg ) and i am wondering if this is the correct one..

or do i need both or what please help thank you.

Most of the time it's the COOLANT TEMP SENSOR.

Although, all in all, I was told to get an aftermarket gauge for the water temp because the stock ones on our 240's just suck.

thats the one i got right now.. i want to know for sure though because once i open the package i cant return the shit.. so anybody else want to calarify this for me please (more important then the belt issue)

also my belt is about to snap.. can i use the sr20de sentra/q20 one as a replacement...

well pop open your hood genius...

This is the one you need for your s14 cluster, however I've upgraded mine and it still doesn't read any temp, but the cluster is receiving a signal. So I gave up and put an aftermarket sensor in.

Nissan KA/SR Dash Gauge Temperature Sensor S14 Chassis (http://www.frsport.com/Nissan-KA-SR-Dash-Gauge-Temperature-Sensor-S14-Chassis_p_12757.html)

however the one for the ECU on the other hand.

this is the one you want.
Nissan OEM ECU Temperature Sensor S13 SR20DET KA24DE (http://www.frsport.com/Nissan-OEM-ECU-Temperature-Sensor-S13-SR20DET-KA24DE_p_2199.html)

if you have an s14ka harness laying around, it wouldn't hurt to splice the connector into your harness and run the s14 version.

Nissan OEM ECU Temperature Sensor S14 S15 SR20DET KA24DE (http://www.frsport.com/Nissan-OEM-ECU-Temperature-Sensor-S14-S15-SR20DET-KA24DE_p_12663.html)

simply because it doesn't have the stupid paper clip retainer shit to deal with and it's easier to remove your harness with that one. That's what i did.

my bad if i dont sound like i know what im talking about because i dont.

but like i said. the temp gauge on my cluster does work. but it reads high when the motor is smashing out and it thinks its overheating (hence needle going up not car acting funny) but in actuality it is not. car does not run overly rich etc.. it runs fine. idles fine. justs reads high..my friend tells me because s13 sr20det redtop into a s14 95 240sx.. the sensors on the sr20det are all what originally came with it and you need to match sensors..

maybe if you can dumb it down for me. so all in all your saying get this one and change this ( Nissan KA/SR Dash Gauge Temperature Sensor S14 Chassis (http://www.frsport.com/Nissan-KA-SR-Dash-Gauge-Temperature-Sensor-S14-Chassis_p_12757.html) ) because the car is just giving false readings to the temp gauge needle in the cluster CORRECT?

sorry dude, im a learner..
