well i bought the car from a friend and it was running great like a freaking champ. but then i had the bright idea of doing a tune up on it and i replaced the oil filter, oil, and spark plugs. I went wrong when i changed the the plugs from heat range 7 to heat range 5. thats when it started to spit and sounded like it back fired. i changed the plugs to heat range 9 to see if it would get rid of the problem and it didnt so i put in the originals heat range 7 and it just minimized it but its still there.

can anyone help???

Checkl the plug gapping. You said you put the orginals back in but who knows. i think you want it at .30 for the 7.

depending on how much boost you are making (13psi- above), you may want to have the gap .028

Why the fuck would you run 9 heat range spark plugs? Rule of thumb...6 for stock, 7 more slightly modded, 1 higher heat range for every 100 hp you make. For you to run 9s, you better be making over 450.

Go look for some BCPR73S-11s, double check the gaps at .028-.030.

the reason i changed it to 9s were cuz a friend that had the same problem told me it worked for him....
my boost is at like no higher than 8 psi
i cant gap the plugs cuz there ngk iridiums.
what i think it is also is it might be my coil packs sense they look really bad...

You can gap iridiums, just be careful not to nick the tips...so again, stock setup, stock boost, 9s will make it run like shit. BCPR7ES-11s, $1.25 per sparkplug...fuck all that noise with iridium shit, cheap enough for you to order a box of them for the price of 1 iridium plug.
