View Full Version : Is it a bright idea to start my SR20 for the first time without any gauges?

I swapped a SR into my 1975 datsun 280z - sex i tell you - anyway, I have everything pretty much wired up in order to start the thing. What i do not have is any gauges. I am worried about a few things. I dont know if the boost is at stock levels (I dont want to be reving it and not know that its at 20lbs or something.) I dont know how well my 1975 fuel pump will perform, and i dont want to be running lean and burn sh!t. The stock motor was a fuel injected 2.8 in line 6, so it SHOULD be fine, but i dunno.

So what do you guys think, is it ok to turn the motor over, let it run for a little bit, then kill it without any gauges?

You can start it but I wouldnt try to do anything else until your sure everything else is squared away...

Get a walbro fuel pump on it before anything else.

as said before fuel pump is a must, id say it would be safe to idle but not much more just incase something isnt right. my .02
