What can I expect to find internally wrong on an engine that has been through a fire?

Does anyone have any first hand experience with this?

the motor i am working with is a ka24de if it matters.

thanks

it depends on how it caught fire, if you dont have another car to transplant parts, i would say its not worth it. youve got to put into consideration that behind the dash might be burned too, all the metal will be toasted, warped, and flimsy.

i never buy burned cars inless i'm only intending to use it for parts

the motor is a donor motor for a totally different car. all the outside stuff for the motor has been replaced every sensor, wire, injector, ect...

mostly i want to know the likelihood of the rods, rings, pistons, valves being messed up. the motor hand cranks over smooth.

i've never used a burned nissan motor, but i did use a burned 454 chevy motor. all gaskets were replaced and the thing ran fine. then again it was a high nickel iron block with forged parts.

hand cranking it wouldnt necessarily matter, you may want to do a compression check along with a leak down test to check for a cracked block or head. the only other thing i can think of would be that some parts may be warped, depending on how hot the engine got when it was on fire.
