View Full Version : 1st Start up (SR20): 550cc & idle

Finally after figuring out some wiring (that prev owner Butcherd) issues
Engine starts and Hardly wants to stay going.
Good buddy says its mainly due to the 550cc injectors that are in there and no tune/SAFC.Car is seeing too much Fuel.Granted I flooded the hell out of it trying to figure out why i had NO Spark.

*Question is should it atleast idle (maybe not drive so good) w/ 550's in - stock everything else?

Reason being is because I wanted to get the motor started 1st,..then Put a bigger MAF and daughterboard tune a friend can do.
DO I need to just put the 370's back in for now untill I'm ready to do it all @ once.
I was gonna atleast try to Drive it (not hard) to get it to work and on a Lift.

2nd question: Would a SAFC be ok to get it running ok?
should I invest or just a daughterboard and keep the money?

SAFC NEO can tune that for sure. It's pretty easy to do. But your answer is yes, you need a tune. Your injectors are bigger, so they spray more fuel than it should. So you need to tell your ECU to relax a bit, and shoot less fuel.

Or you could adjust fuel pressure... but I would not recommand it... just tune it, it's easier, and if you want a MAF, you'll need a tune anyway!

And no, it will never idle with 550CC and stock everything else!

you're gonna wash your cylinders down with 550 and no tuning on stock everything.

i did that on my ka, but with a z32 maf and it still ran rich.

I was just curious...as I thought it might idle @least,..but oh well.I'll throw the Stockers back in there.Drive it around and make sure all the Bugs are out - THEN swap iver everything else.

For sure, change the injectors back. Your car is seeing 2x the amount of fuel, and the same amount of air. No good.

Changing the injectors is easy anywho, just throw the stockers back in.
