To you guys who have removed and reinstalled the rear subframe.. Is it easier to install just the subframe first or do you guys find it easier to install with the rear diff attached? I know the rear diff is heavy but it seems like it would be a pita to install on it's own later on as well. Thanks in advance.

When I did mine, I did the subframe minus diff carrier

If you have a lift or something, then you could rest the whole subframe assembly on a dolly and drop the car on it (which I've seen done before), but if you doing in the home garage, probably best to do minus diff carrier

Installing rear diff carrier by itself isn't "hard" in the grand scheme of things

I have found it easier to install with the Diff installed and jacking the subframe up using the diff. I found it hard to jack the subframe up without the diff installed.

i just recently did it, had the whole thing together. got a friend to pick up on one side and i slid the jack onto the diff and balanced it.

It all depends on what tools, resources, and man power you have. I have always found it easier to install it all at once. trying to get a diff up there when its on your stomache is fairly difficult, none the less heavy as fcuk

its easier to install the subframe with the diff already bolted to it. that way you can use the diff as the jacking/lifting point.

All I remember from when I did mine is it was really heavy.

I, did it twice on my S14 all by myself ( leaky fuel tank ) do it all together for sure!, it's heavier but in the long run, you'll be done much quicker.

When I did mine, everything was installed, minus the axles.

Do it with the diff on. Its good jacking point just make sure you have buddies to stabilize it and line it up. The diff is not easy to press up, line up and then push back. I have done both

I did it without the diff about 2 years ago. It was a real pain trying to get the diff on by my self. I suggest you try it all together. Which reminds me I have to install my diff. solid alum. bushings once I get back to the states.
