out of boredom decided to put my s13 blacktop piston next to the redtop piston and this is what i found. Notice how much thicker the skirts are on the redtop, Now my question is why are there holes drilled in the blacktop? any input would be cool.

Redtop on the left, my blacktop on the right.

Holes are probably there to help cool the pistons.

Oiling gallery

made to "Catch" the oil better and funnel it to the rings from the oil squirters

EDIT: Hmm maybe not i see the oiling holes now after a closer look.

Maybe for added strenght and drill to shave the weight???

Interesting! I thought all S13 and S14 SR pistons were the same, and the S15 ones were better... good post!
