i bought the car with a blown head gasket and replaced it, but it was running too hot so i thought it might be something with the motor so i did a fresh rebuild. i dropped the motor in yesterday and it runs good but still runs hot. it's running barely over the half mark at idle and starts to rise after i drive it which was the same situation before the rebuild. i changed the water pump, oem thermostat, and bled the system. the radiator doesn't leak and i ran water through it and it flows fine. also ran water through the top hose and it flowed good. i can't think of anything else to do.

maybe your radiator is plugged. get one that is known to work well, or take yours to a radiator shop to get it routed.
if that doesnt work, what kind of fan are you using? if your using an electric fan maybe your fan can be pushing/pulling the wrong way thus not pushing the air over your motor.
if you have a clutch fan, maybe your clutch is faulty.
did you check to make sure your gauge is isnt faulty.

As supreme said, definitely check to make sure your gauge isn't playing games with you. Are you still on the factory rad? Is the rest of the motor stock?
Forumla D driver Joon Maeng switched to one of our rads and is now running 20 degrees cooler. Also our fan shrouds help significantly with cooling, check out Import Tuner's review here (http://www.mishimoto.com/mishimoto-import-tuner-august-2008.html).

I had the same problem. it was my clutch fan.

i was taking temp measurements with an infrared gun at the gauge sensor and the top inlet of the radiator after driving it. the temps at the gauge sensor was around 165-170F and at the top of the radiator inlet was around 170-175F. the gauge cluster is reading just over half at these temps.
