How to: 850cc RX7 Secondary Sidefeeds for SR20DET

All you need to do this is:

--RX7 FD3S 850cc Sidefeed Injectors
--RX7 Injector Plugs
--Injector Collar Adapters
--Nissan Injector O-Rings(Upper and Lower)
--Short piece of 5/16 Hose

You need to start out by removing your current injectors. For god's sake DO NOT USE any kind of pliers!!! I will show you how to remove the OEM injectors so you can sell them and not mar them to hell.

Steps for Removing Injectors:

1) Remove the Injector Cap.
2) Rotate Injector 90* to face the bolt hole.(See Pictures)
3) Use large Flathead screwdriver to pop/pry out the injector.
4) Repeat Steps 1-3 until Injectors are removed. Voila.

Now you need to "modify" the RX7 injectors to allow them to fit into the SR20DET rail as they are too tall and smaller in diameter.

Steps: "Modifying" RX7 Injectors

1) Remove both the upper and lower O-rings on the RX7 injector.(See pictures)
2) Slide the injector collar on with the lip facing toward the pintle cap.(See pictures)
3) Install the OEM Nissan O-rings onto the RX7 Injectors. Be sure to pre-lube them with Petroleum Jelly prior to install and not damage the o-rings with the tool during install!(See pictures)
4) Cut the corner of the plug on the opposite side of the push button to allow them to clear the rail.(See pictures)
5) Cut a ~3mm thick piece of vacuum hose for the injector cap.(See pictures)
6) Install injector, be sure to press hard to get the aluminum collar all they way into the rail.(See pictures)
7) Install the injector cap with the ~3mm piece of vacuum hose.(See pictures)

Wire up the plugs and enjoy your 850cc Sidefeeds for cheap!

Please note that I will not be held liable for any problems or damage incurred by following my write-up as this is a guideline only.

These injectors are quiet but they are hard to get to idle. I had to settle for 11.8~12.2 AFRs at idle but as soon as it comes up off idle it is fine.

If you need a set of RX7 Injectors I can get you a set.

Good writeup on the install. 850cc is kind of large and all but I would think you can get your air fuel ratio better at idle. Your latency needs adjusted most likely but your k value might be off some too. What is your method of tuning if its other than remapping the ecu?

I don't really have any concept of a "k" value as I have an Electromotive stand alone. I'll try playing around with the TOG (Time for one Gamma) in the higher values(10ms or so) however when I fooled with this it adjusted the raw fuel curve and didn't change much.

I can get it to idle at a better AFR it's just really hard to accurately control such big injectors at such low ms pulsewidths and the idle is somewhat rough with some small hiccups.

I also played around with timing and didnt seem to allow much better results.

I am not running sequential injection which would help some on the control.

yea, sequential injection is almost a must if you want to have a decent idle. As long as your not fowling plugs I dont see anything wrong. Its not like your actually using THAT much more fuel at idle.

Yea, exactly. The effort to go to sequential is not really worth it IMO. As I have to run a cam trigger wheel.

I need a set of injectors. How much for a set with the clips?

I know this is an old thread but I'm looking at doing this and need to know where I can buy the collar adapters. I tried PM'ing the OP but no answer.
