Hello everyone,
So not too long ago I bought an rb25 off a private owner and later found out it had problems left and right. It was installed at Mckinney motorsports and found out that the harness was done by them previously for an s13 instead of an s14, so I got a new harness and started fresh. Later I had some boost leaks and replaced some hoses. After That, the idler bolt broke (probably from overtightening) and luckily I didn't lose the timing as it was still in its place. so we replaced the bolt re-did the timing to spec, cranked it and it ran perfectly! I take it for a drive and do a few small pulls to see how it felt and it felt great; very smooth. I pull it back in the garage and let it idle to cool down and all of a sudden the the cam angle sensor started making a clicking noise and got louder until it stopped then it wouldnt idle correctly. We tried moving the cam angle sensor around see if that would make a difference but still nothing. Now I dont know what to do as the only thing we messed with was the front of the motor. If anyone can help me out please let me know. Thanks
David

check under the timing cover and see if the cas bracket is still intact and not faulty.

borrow another cam angle sensor and try it out . if its the same shit , go to your ecu and pull some codes and see what its saying.

didnt u post this on another forum? i think you should put your upper timing cover on or use spacers between the CAS and the mounting bracket. mine seized from not running a cover or spacers.

k well i found out that the little metal pin on the cam shaft broke clean off the cam. but I put the CAS back on with spacers and replaced the o-ring on the CAS but is it ok to run it with that metal key line broken off? i drove it around the neighborhood a few times and seemed ok?

you mean the dowel pin on the cam that aligns it with the cam gear ??

youll be fine to drive without it , but what the hell made it break off is an even better question
