HELP DOHC ka wont start..but cranks

ok so i did a sohc to a dohc engine swap, plus a 5spd conversion. i bought all the right parts necessary to do the swap rite. now im stuck i cant get it turn over all it does is crank but no start. i kno for a fact that i have fuel and spark because everytime after cranking it backfires and i can smell the exhaust. i checked my grounds the two that are on the head. could it be that im using accel distributor. it checked my timing four times to make sure that it set rite. i kno u guys are say "USE SEARCH" but i did that , i have killed so many trees trying to undestand what i have to do step by step. Can you guys help me plz?????????

Sounds like the timing is off. Reset it. Are you running the OE coil and power transistor?

no im running accel coil, i said iwas using accel dizzy but im not i meant the coil, and is the power transistor the little back plug that sits on top of the stock coil bracket and plugs into engine harness?? if it is im using the sohc one would that make a difference???

ok i tried to start it today, i check my plugs and i dont think they are hot enuff to get it to crank it. i replaced the plugs any suggestions
