soo i got a ca-18 n/a chillin in my s-13. ive contemplated the swap out for an sr-20det but i dont quite got the funds for that right now being a student and what not... soo i got a t-25 garret that ive been waiting to be put in,but have heared from some nay sayyers that the ca-n/a might not be able to handle the turbo, and have also heared that its alrite to turbo it up... . since i got low kms on the CA, im thinkin jus to turbo it since its also lighter than the SR20 and sits further back in the engine bay, which is wicked for drift ... if it isnt compatible, wouldnt i jus be able to turbo it up and run low boost, with doing minimal damage? .. anybody have any info that can help me>? cus id like to be boosting by the end of the week!

Why not just sell it to a s12 owner and pick up a DET?
to the guy above me, your friend is a fanboy. my ca is balls out at 3400rpms with a t3/t4. runs great, boosts great.

yea ive been checkin around for ca18det's-sr's, and the swap is soon inevitable jus really debating on which engine. i really want to keep it original with the ca its just the aftermarket is terrible for the ca's... but ireally like how it runs...would i need to replace the clips if i was swapping in a ca18-det?

Get a CA18DET, and save yourself some headaches. They're not that hard to source here in Canada. And the aftermarket for CA's isn't as bad as you think, you're just not looking hard enough. CA18DET's are very capable engines with the right mods.
Good luck!

hey slammed you know of any reputable engine importers here in canada?, i was referred to by a buddy to go to tiger imports, have you heared of them and if so, whats the low down with this company? .thanks for the support bud! ..anyway i wanted to keep it original with the CA and bolt up a turbo to my CA but seems like a swap would probably save me less headaches for sure!

I've never dealt with with them, and I've heard of only a few stories regarding them. There are a few places in AB. I know of about 3 or 4 business' here in Calgary that deal with CA's. The best is to look on local forums. I've seen some complete CA18DET's go for $400. If you want any more info just PM me. I can point you in the right direction.
