In my other thread with my 240 build up, i am in need of a block. I have been reading that the only real differences is that the DE does not have oil squirters and a different size crank pulley. Are they the only differences? Id hate to get the motor this weekend and send em off to the machine shop and for them just to tell me i cant do it.
I have everything that came with a turbo SR but i just need a block.

Search next time
Nissan SR engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_SR_engine)
(thought it had better information)
But in addition compression ratio is differnt, no turbo oil feed or coolant feed

Thnx for the help. Not to be a jerk or anything but i have been searching. Which is how i found out about the oil and crank etc..Wiki gave me no info besides the basic info i already knew. Im just looking for facts that you wouldnt know unless someone has already tried this. But again, thank you
IF thats the only difference then i dont see any real problems. Its just like turboing an NA in general.

I have a rwd sr20det and a rwd sr20de in my garage.
They look VERY similar. Almost identical, other than the already mentioned things.
Are you asking about a fwd DE?

No, FWD blocks wont work for RWD application. Also, why the hell would you want an NA bottom end? The only reason I can see is because your gonna rebuild an NA bottom end for turbo. If not, you're better off keeping the KA and slapping a T25/28 turbo kit on it to get the same goal.

I wouldnt say theyre completely worthless. I just wouldnt spend the money to pick up an RWD NA SR20DE engine. Why? Its cheaper to stay with the KA. Now if I'm stuck in his situation, where I buy a car with a blown SR swap in then yah maybe. Well no, take that back, I wouldnt, cuz im not dumb enough to jump on a car like that. I would rather start from scratch than pick up on somebody else's mistake/mickey mouse shit. :barfkiss: It ends up being more fucking work than its worth. I hope you didnt pay more than $500 bucks for that car cuz its basically a rolling chassis. Doesnt look like there's much to salvage on that engine.

i paid 700. First all i said was that i wanted the block not the ENTIRE bottom end. Even though 9.0 compression aint that bad, i dont want to tune for it...yet. Second i paid 700 and yes i initially bought the car just for the shell anyway. 240s are hard to find, where im at anyway. My friend bought a KA s13 for 300 and put 2k in the KA just to get it running. Now he is trying to sell it, becuase of the rust on his
Luckily mine has no rust. So again, i new the car was blown but i can part it out and start fresh. Its not like i thought this was going to be easy. Thanks again though for all the input.
