I am selling my rsx and getting a 240 s13. I want a 2jz cause it's bad ass, sounds sick with the 6cyl and after the tune have around 320. OOOOrrr should I just rebuild the motor and upgrade the turbo etc. Both would be the same amount of money. I NEED OPINIONS!!! Thanks Luke

Both will not be the same amount of money... Break down the costs of each, not to mention custom fabbing of stuff to fit the 2JZ and you'll find it'll cost much more to swap a 2JZ into the S13... But if you have the means and the funds in this economic hardship have at it.
Take into consideration what you want to do with the car. Having an ass load of power doesn't mean shit when you can't control it. The 2JZ is much heavier than the KA, SR, or RB series engines.

Ok well the 2jz swap would be around 8k all together. Or I could buy a 240 probably s14 and take the motor and do as much as I can with 8 grand. That's what I meant by the same price. And yes you are right about not having anything if you can't put it down. Thanks for the tips. LUke:D

i'm a huge 2jZ guy *building one myself*
with everything (brakes, suspension, rims, tires, swap stuff, motor, mods, there is like 12K into the 2J swap) so you better have alot of cash
and really 320hp would be ok to get out of a KA-t..with a good tubro/tune.

That's part of the reason I wanted to do the ka-t. That way I could afford wheels/suspension/brakes. Again thanks for the replies. But I am still obsessed with the JZ! Someday....
I'm still up for pointers.
Thanks LUke

yes I think I'm going for the ka-t. One question. Is there a good rebuild kit somewhere? I found this one on Ebay haha. Let me know

CA18 with 2.3. liter stroker/over bore kit + GT35R and methanol
rev it to 9500 with stock valve train and make over 600 whp with a SUPER LIGHT and well balanced chassis with most of the weight pushed up againt the firewall and behind the front wheel / cross memeber centerline.

The 2JZ is much heavier than RB series engines.
Actually NO,
A Stock 2JZ with stock twins, intake weight less than An Stock Rb25det....i had both on the scale and the 2jz is ligther by 8kg ~16lbs
And lets not talk about the crappiest of them all, The over rated, overpriced , the Crapy Rb26....
damn thing is HEAVY.....
op,
ka-T will do fine cfor a guy on budget.....ever consdierd LSx swap....?

screw it. just go for ls1 v8 and call it a day. it's only 50lbs more than the kade. and it sits lower and further back in the car.
but seriously, why don't you work on getting the car and making sure it, and you, can handle the power first(i.e. suspension, wheels, tires, drivetrain, etc.) then with whatever you have left, more power.

the cost of the KA-T vs. 2JZ are nowhere near the same amount of money.
maybe the KA-T should be your decision.

2jz would be nice but i personally would get the s14 and turbo the ka...its a solid motor when built well and can put out some good numbers

That's a very vague question. There's no possible way to give a specific answer to that question. With properly executed and targeted weight reduction and a good mount kit, you can offset the weight differences of swaps. A fully prepped and set up suspension can further help to tune out any ill-handling that may be the byproduct of a heavier engine. Further, it's a moot point asking a question like this as you would have to be very experienced with your setup and then try another setup to understand the differences yourself.

Why would you swap a 2jz in for only 320hp. If you are going to swap engines at least use SOME of its potential.

^^ exactly what I was thinking. 2jz for 320 hp is a waste!

For 300-350 horsepower, building the KA would be the best choice. It would be significantly cheaper than swapping a 2JZ.
Depending on where you buy it, and what you're looking for, the 2JZ can cost anywhere from 6-7 thousand for just the engine. With the same amount of cash, you could fund 90% of your KA build: suspension, brakes, cam, turbo kit, engine rebuild kit..ETC.
If you're really set on a "badass" swap, I would suggest an SR20. They're cheaper to swap ($2-4,000 for engine), and achieves 300 horsepower with a few more pounds of boost than stock.

If you do decide to go with the JZ motor - I have a mount set available for it.
Please let me know or check out > http://zilvia.net/f/advertiser-specials-sales/245446-zerolift-ruckus-1jz-2jz-mount-kit-s-chassis.html

seriously build a ca. sr's are over rated. like one off the above post states they r pretty stout and are cheap. ive owned a sr, and ka-t aswell as driven a ca with the same suspension blah blah setup as me with the ka-t. the ca was alot more fun to drive and the sr was at tne bottom. but thats just my .02 cents. good luck with ur choice.
