So I'm getting a machine shop to rebuild my engine, but they say they don't do timing. What will I have to do to the Crank Angle Sensor to ensure that the engine actually starts so I can drive it to a place to tune it? I marked on the disc the position it was in before, but not the position of the crankshaft. Any ideas? I might not be asking the right questions, but any help would be most helpful.

Well if the motor is in tdc the cams will have silver links that should line up with dots on the cam gears. Make sure it's at top dead center by the lines on the crank pully and putting a screwdriver in the 1st cylinder as tdc might be 180 degrees off also. And the line on the crank pulley is the second to last one if turning it clockwise. If all is lined up the cas has i'm pretty sure 2 dots and a line. The dot that is farthest from the gears lines up with the line first then you push it through the hole and the gear will turn the dots so that the one closest to the gear lines up. and on another note i would never have someone rebuild my engine if they don't do timing. Thats just me though.

If they don't do the timing, does that mean they aren't installing the timing chain and associated items? If not, you need to get an FSM and/or research the process. It's been done countless times on multiple forums.
