jw if anyone knows anything about the factory alarm. i have 95 se and it appears to have a factory alarm. when i bought the car, it came with an aftermarket alarm. after replacing the main harness, the aftermarket alarm was removed. the factory alarm has been ok till now. the factory alarm now goes off for no known reasons. i still have the original alarm key fob but dont know how to sync them together. does anyone know how to resolve this issue? or have a wire diagram? thanks for all the help and support

The FSM has a wiring diagram.

The OE alarm system triggers from either the key cylinders receiving an intrusion, the doors being opened, or the trunk/hood being opened. When anything is open on the car and the system and ignition are both off, you'll get a constant flash of the LED, so it's easy to diagnose. Get in the car and close the doors. If the LED continues to flash, either the trunk or hood switch is triggered (open), more than likely it's the hood since the rubber bumper on the hood that depresses the switch usually wears or breaks off. Unplug it temporarily to see if the LED goes out. If it does, buy a new hood bumper or rig something to the hood to depress the switch fully when closed. If it does not, the trunk trigger could be bad, unplug it as well to test.

You don't need the remote, it will arm through locking either door with the key, and disarm via unlock.

You can't remove the OE alarm, it's integrated into the smart entrance control unit. Not unless you don't want power door locks, rear defogger, key warning chime, or a domelight too.

I know this is a shot in the dark, but would you happen to know if 94 Camry's have factory alarms built into the ecu?

Sometimes you can go into the car and put the key in, and the CEl stays lit constantly and the OD/OFF light will start flashing.

I know that sometimes the door switch is a little slow to turn on the dome light. Perhaps the car thinks it's being stolen?

Drives perfectly. Freeze frame data comes up empty. No code. Just constant CEL and OD/OFF light flashing.

Thanks.

CEL and OD lights together are a transmission problem. Toyota parallels them to indicate a code is stored, pull the codes and diagnose.

Like I said above, we tried to pull the code but it came up empty. The freeze frame data also came up empty.

I don't know what else except that the auto ECU is faulty.

reminds me of my car. It would go off at random times. I just took the relay out to the headlights and horn on the alarm fuse box.

Maybe. But it's nothing anyone has ever discussed.

Ok, I have the same problem....alarm goes off randomly. I haven't checked those switches yet, but I have a short between my dome light and alarm. My fuse for interior light keeps blowing. I took out the relay and the lights work without blowing fuse, but can't start the car obviously. Does anyone have a clue of what the cause is? My wiring diagram doesn't show me a link between the interior lighting and alarm. It's done this 3-4 months after putting on my body kit with blister fenders. I had a body shop put it on for me. thought that would help.

You took out what relay? There is no relay for the interior lighting circuit. Just randomly pulling shit out of the car isn't the answer.

Apparently the body shop did some wiring damage so start tracing their work.

let's try alarm relay...you know the small relay box that says "ALARM" that everyone else above has been talking about. Like i said before, when i pulled the relay "ALARM RELAY", the lights will turn on and off without blowing fuse.

I did go through the exterior lighting harness around the bumper area, and did not find any chaffing, frayed, or cut wires when the problem started.

No one has been talking about relays, we've been discussing the hood switch. Relay does not equal switch.
But since you're going to try and be a smart ass, I'm done with helping in this thread. Fix it yourself smart guy.

does having a smart enterence module automatically mean I should have keyless and an alarm? I was under the impression I didnt have either. I do have power locks.
