This went to ALL DRIFT EVENT HOLDERS
It seems people dont follow all the rules which makes it harder for others to have fun...

Just a reminder that if you Purchase your insurance for your event through Willow Springs Raceway there are to be absolutely no passengers unless you have an instructor in the car. If that is the case then you can have the instructor and one (1) passenger in the car at a time. We have been seeing up to 4 passengers in the car at one time with cameras hanging out of the car. This is unacceptable. If you were to have this many passengers in the car and something were to have gone wrong the insurance company would not cover you due to not following their policies. If you would like to have events where passengers are allowed you can purchase your own insurance through a different insurance group.

Affective immediately WSIR will be monitoring all drifting events. If we are to see that you have passengers in the cars we will stop your event immediately and escort the group off of the balcony circuit with NO refunds.

We have also noticed that after events there is fence knocked down and WSIR was never notified. Over the past year we at Willow Springs have tried to make rules a little lenient for the drift groups after they have shown that they are responsible and professional enough to put on at least two events at the Balcony Circuit. If these incidents do not stop we have no other choice then to make a mandatory rule that Fire Rescue is to be at each and every Drifting track day at any and all of our tracks. This rule will apply to EVERY drifting organization that comes to Willow Springs Raceway.

626DRIFT EVENTS has been holding 1 or more events a month for over 2 years at Balcony, HTM, and OVAL.

Over the last several month I have seen an increase of other event organizers popping up. Some of these people run decent events, and some of these people have absolutely no business being in control of an organized event or anybodys safety.

No where did the original letter say anything about cages or tandem.
I think there big concern is the insurence covering accidents.
Because if there is an accident, and thier insurence doesnt cover it.
They could be sued then by the people in the accident.
The waver you sign at the door wouldn't hold up in court in that kind of case.
Also, people holding cameras outside the car would mean that they are putting their limbs outside the car.

the only time i ever remember this at our event is a year in a half ago. a Violent Running Cressida took about 5 passes at the end of the day on an empty track at about half the normal speed.

This isnt news to me. I know exactly what the rules are.
That's why we sell what we sell! So we can help out the poor drifters in need of equipment that works, and is affordable!

Btw, there is a reason why WSIR emailed all the organizers only(instead of posting it on their site for everyone to see). Because they know who is doing what. They didnt want to point any fingers. They just want to inform the newer organizations(because there are so many now) of these problems. We been doing events since 07, that was 2 years ago. 626drift has made all the mistakes on the book, why are we still drifting there? Because we learn, and we follow the rules!

And if you read the top portion. This ONLY APPLIES TO people that purchase insurance from WSIR. If you have your own insurance. These rules dont apply!

So there you guys go. Stop the complaining.

WOW! what a crazy fucked up situation! heres my two cents...about 90% of us that host events or are very closely involved with other groups here know EXACTLY who is fucking around and cant seem to run a proper show. cmon. just look at the vids..there are guys pretty much hanging out cars with cameras and got thier hands all hanging out the top of miatas like its a damm roller coaster. DRIVERS DOING TANDEM WITHOUT CAGES! (seems to be the most popular) leaving tons of trash in the parking lot and blown tires on steelies lying around for "the next guy" to clean up.
you know who you are and we are all not perfect so pointing the finger is not the solution here. RUN A CLEAN EVENT BY THE RULES or dont host! its that simple.
one thing we cannot stop is guys that rent it for a private day. we will just have to hope Jim or WSIR staff can keep an eye on them for the day.
Best thing would be to report all damages you see BEFORE the event starts if there is any ,and leave the place nice and clean for the next group at the end of the day for the next guy.

I got a hold of WSIR staff earlier today. And they pretty much told me the same info stated above:

Now about the situation with the fence and the 4 passenger with the hands holding the camera outside the vehicle. They pretty much know who was doing it. I think they got reprimanded and the letter was just sent to all organizers to inform everybody about the situation, to make sure everybody was on the same page.

As for the property damage, I suggested that they do a visual check of the track and its surroundings before and after an event. And suggested also to follow through with what they said that they were going to do when they see 4 passengers with hands holding a camera outside. I think that is the best way to deal with it.

They also said that the broken fence was not the big deal (as it is covered by insurance) but it was the "not informing them about the damage so they can fix it" that got them a little upset.

Pointing fingers will not help in finding the solution to the problem, it just makes everybody worried about events. Complying to their set rules will.

If we comply to their set rules there should not be any problems.

So YES, it is WE who need to keep on top of things whenever we attend OR host events. It will be for the benefit of ALL to NOT tolerate behavior which may threaten the relationship we have with ALL venues, not just WSIR.

And I hope that the safety equipment you all may purchase is actually real safety equipment not just "dress-up" stuff. It's in your own best interest.

Know your track rules and if you are doing something someone else isn't doing. ask someone to see if breaking shit is part of the 100 bucks you paid at track. more thank likely it was only covering breaking your car. yea there is soo many event holders nowadays, that i can just sit back and pop out random events

basically, everyone should enforce the rules, and aslong is everything is good, your reputation will affect others.

as a whole community we are as one.

as a host, i decided to let go of drifting/drift car so the next event, i will focus on making sure everything runs smooth and all, the touke way >_< plus not to be mean, im deep into my career, hence why i've disappeared for a bit or so.

for the new events, if your a host and you want to drive, make sure you have a stand-by co-host to make sure your event runs smooth without problems occuring while your behind the wheel.

WSIR is a good place to welcome multiple drift events, lets keep it that way. We should form a rules and guidence together, because WSIR doesn't have a set final rules about certain events, if we can work with WSIR to make a RULES and etc. paperwork for events and etc.. and the whole community, we can all get along like a big family.

i talk with Chuck from the fire rescue/cheif - maybe during a meeting, we can come up with rules that all host eventers should comply and carry, execute. in other words, you state you understand the rules, etc and its like your bible for events =)


its not only the host eventers, so don't pound them in the head too much, don't nail them that hard.

all drivers and hosts, should work together, each driver is there for each other, as a community we are as whole.
having a cabinet of enforcers staff is also good, but make sure they do their work on their part too

so if someone screws things up, its like a chain reaction, so everyone work together.

the hosts are the SHERIFF of their events, sometimes you gots to pull the plug on someone and black flag them, before the whole event is plugged off. i've been through those situations before, like 626 says and other events, we learn from our mistakes, if your a new event, don't hesitate to ask us questions or ask the big dawgs like Drift Day, Just Drift, and etc......

Your basically labeling all the stuff you have seen in the VRT/626 event videos.
I held out the fucking yellow flag. It wasnt a clipping point, it was a flag we use on the track to communicate to drivers.
It was during the instructor session.
Im an instructor.

The guitar was awsome.
It was an artistic statment saying, get off the guitar hero and couch, and get out and live life.
If you didnt get it, you need to read some more poetry and drink some more coffee.

No one has succesfully held any person out the window, i dont think humans have the strength for a feat like that unfortunatly. cause it would be awsome!!!

Since I am in charge of media, and we know the rules, I make those decisons.
ask around. there are alot of bummed people that I dont let shoot on track.
And the shots from the center ring have a car there to protect the media, as WSIR request!

all passengers had belts.
instructors in the car.
helmets on.
so its completely legal as WSIR regulations say.
