Ok I have been told that the only really good head gaskets for the sr20 are the tomei or power enterprise. by a reliable source (Matt at Import Inteligence)
Any one have any input on some good head gaskets from personal use??
Any input would valuable.
Thanks in advance..

I went with a cometic head gasket. I couldnt get it to seal and it was leaking ect. After 300 miles it was changed out to a tomie and I have had no problems since.

greddy is the only company i have had first-hand experience with.
i had no problems with it at all.
i'm sure cosworth is also worth mentioning.

+1 for cosworth, cometic ones are gay, I had one and it leaked on me from day 1. so I throw it to the trash and got me a cosworth and i have not had a single problem with it.

go with cosworth, dont mess with the cometic junk crap. They work for some people great but I have never heard of a headgasket that has so many widespread problems other than cometic. For the price go with cosworth if your wanting to take the cheaper rout. I dont think i have ever heard anyone complain about them. Im using a tomie with no trouble.

Well I know that the commetics are crap but Ive seen a professional D1 Eng built with one, although he used a copper coating.. Dose any one know where to get that?
but I think that that cosworth is a good deal I think I might go that route.

To all the guys who ran cometic headgaskets .... did you guys plane your blocks ???
i hear alot of good stuff when it comes to cometic and i hear alot of people used it with no problems . or do these problems only occur with SR20 ?
im rebuilding my RB and i planed the surface of the block and the head and i do plan on going with cometic headgasket.
thoughts ?

the RB is a Cast iorn Block so it really shouldnt warp. the Head yeah you should deck.
dont use a cometic dont be cheap, get an Apexi H/G or Power Enterprise.
Im Running a P/E H/G and I only Mil'd the head its holding fine for me.

Yea, Why chance it? My cometic seemed fine aside from the fact that I had an oil leak that was leaking out of the engine, not in the cylender. I didnt plane the block or head before installing it. When we pulled the head to throw on the tomie we did nothing different, just threw it on and it was fine.
With the cometic it leaked instantly and didnt show any signs of getting better. Had to pull the head within 300 miles. Not worth it. Some people swear by them, and it really seems that they are ok on ka's to be honest. They are the people that really stand up for cometic in threads like this.

Well I think like you said depends on the eng. Ive heard from some very reliable builders ( Importinteligence mat) Built JR Gittins SR. Pretty much said Commetic are junk on the SR but work OK on the KA. Matt Said Power enterprise, tomei or Apexi is the way to go for SR.
That is all here say though and I really want to hear about personal experiances.
Thanks for all the input and please keep the feed back comming
