I just had my limited slip differential installed at a dealership, and now I'm not sure if the axle output shafts were installed in the proper sides. I'm having the same problem as the one in the following link Cusco 2 way problem - Zilvia.net Forums (http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/232065-cusco-2-way-problem.html). Does anyone know which axle shaft is susposed to be closer to the ring gears? the shorter one or the longer of the two?

Why does everyone freak out on this?
There are snap rings one is in the diff, and one is on one axle while the other axle just has an empty spot for it. There is no screwing it up, if you do one axle wont keep itself in there. Can you pull it out by hand? No? your good then.

I think what he is refering to is that his axle stub flanges are from a viscous model lsd, and he does not know which side the axle flange mounts onto.
Viscous model axle flanges are different in length.
Refer to a FSM if possible or if this is indeed your question let me know, Ill find the answer for you.

Yea, Im thinking thats what he is saying too and although I cant remember from when I did my tomie 2 way lsd in my 180sx vsld which half shaft was actually longer but one has a snap ring and the other dont, the other snap ring is in the carrier. You should be able to see it with a light or feel it with your finger if its long enough (maybe not if its already in the diff case) but the half shaft without the snap ring needs to go in the side of the diff that has the snap ring in it.
If you take the half shaft without the snap ring and stick it in a side and it holds, its in the right side, if it dont its in the wrong side so put it in the other side and it will hold, and then put the other one in the other side and youll be good.

I couldnt find anything in the FSM. It's open diff. It looks like both sides have snap rings to hold it in place.
The short one goes on the left, thank you.

Sorry, they removed me open diff to install my nismo 2way lsd. When I got it back, the shafts looked incorrect.

actually they arnt supposed to give you any trouble with nismo parts. I guess maybe they can if you didnt get the part from them as it could be fake.
