well plugging up the stock tach should work but the RPM reading will be way off. Me and my friend put resistors and it worked great.

No, the ach never came on. Its pretty much driving me crazy now, there should be no reason i can't get a signal from the wire.

ok i did this for a friend a while back on his 3000gt and i also though hey its easy just tap to the oem tach signal but nothing happened it had power and the ground was connected. The reason it didnt work its because thats not how you install it. I ended up taping to the cam sensor and worked fine. My sugestion is call autometer and ask them how to hook it up to a 300zx turbo so you can get a idea how to hook it up.

so do u have no wire at all going for tach signal in your cluster? i think the wire still has to run to the cluster and you have to tap from it
