Help with rb25 in 90 coupe
im having trouble with the tach that i want to install in my coupe. i know the tach signal wire is yellow/red but, when we connect the wire from the tach signal to the aftermarket tach nothing happens. the tach is set for 6 cyl. and it is getting power. if anyone can help me i would be very greatful. thanks

well plugging up the stock tach should work but the RPM reading will be way off. Me and my friend put resistors and it worked great.

ok i did this for a friend a while back on his 3000gt and i also though hey its easy just tap to the oem tach signal but nothing happened it had power and the ground was connected. The reason it didnt work its because thats not how you install it. I ended up taping to the cam sensor and worked fine. My sugestion is call autometer and ask them how to hook it up to a 300zx turbo so you can get a idea how to hook it up.

thanks will do, on a side note on nico club a guy had the same problem but they told him he should/ didnt have to tap into the cam sensor, but i will give them a call.
gave them a call they were closed but i pulled this off there web site: Tachometer Signal Wire Installation for 3.0L engine(s) Pin #7, yellow wire with a red stripe at the ECM, or same color wire a the tachometer test connector on the EFI harness, in the left side of the engine compartment. 3-pulse |
