I built a motor for a friend with CP pistons and stock rods. We plan on pushing about 380-400 rwhp with the T25 flanged GT3076R he has. Now on the other hand I have an S14 and am also building a SR for myself now. I'm gonna be running a much larger turbo (T3 flanged to say the least) I'm shooting for 450-475 rwhp and wanted to know if you guys think it's attainable on the stock rods (over time). I don't want it to just hold for 1 month of hard driving I want it to last untill it's just time to open the motor back up naturally. You guys have any huge dyno sheets on stock rods?

Record for stock bottom end is over 600whp. Not sure how long it lasted tho. I personally know a guy in Oki that was pushing 470whp on stock bottom end on a TD06-25G. Tuning is what it will ultimately come down to.

I plan on doing forged pistons, head gasket, and arp head studs while it's apart I just wondered about the rods themselves

Friend of mine ran 493whp w/ a ROM tune for over a year...the spun a main rod bearing one night. I'd say 400whp on a good tune and it should last you for a good time.

Most of the time, its the rod bearings thats suspect. Install some clevite bearings and the rods should be good.

if you have it that far apart. You might as well replace the rods, theres only 4 of them and i cant see them being that much of a hastle to put in. If you know what your doing!

you dont need to open the top end at all to change rod bearings tho...

do any of you run SCAT rods or know of them? Just wondering how is the quality?

Limits is one thing. Longivity is another. Something to consider.

I've been running my Forged CP's and Stock rods (400+ whp, HPDE days all the time, drag racing, etc etc) for nearly 3 years, without hiccup. I don't think any T2 flanged turbo will surpass the limits of those rods.
