Here is the deal, I bought a 5 lug rear subframe and has a J30 Diff. Guy said the Subframe was from a S14. It definitely has the J30 Rear Brake setup. You know the one with the drum e-brake. So here is my question:How do you get the e-brake to work? the cable mounts for it or off. Then the cable itself is too long. Is there a different cable to use or a way to bypass it? I have to get new calipers since mine did not have any. So would it be smarter to get S14 or 300ZX Calipers and then use my stock e-brake lines to hook that up? Also what all brakes will fit the J30 Setup?
I did search both current and archived, nothing really relates to my questions and or the questions were never answered.

I don't buy that you searched, but I'll be nice.

The entire brake setup bolts right up by swapping uprights, they're larger than the OE S14 calipers/rotors, the rotors are actually the same size as the Z32. The cables can be used if you build new brackets to accept and hold the cables or cut/splice the cables with the S14 parts and make new cables completely. Either way there's modification involved, but nothing major. Everything else is simply replacing OE parts.

What he said, In my opinion the easiest way to go is splice cables. Use Z calipers.

So the Z uses the same kind of Drum E-brake as well? I did search I am sorry I did not have a lot of time to get through all the pages but I spent a good hour, I saw some how to about the ebrake cables, I also seen people that have put the J30 brakes on there but no discussion of the J30 e-brake issue, I could have been searching the wrong keywords, I do not know. I appreciate you being nice enough to fill me in rep points for you.

Yes. the ebrake setup is the same, however the hub/bearing is bolted on to the Z like the Schassis and therefore easily removable. The J30 hub is pressed into the bearing, which is then pressed into the upright. You can use the J30 assembly with R33 cables just as you would the Z32 ebrakes, just requires more money and parts.
