Who here has heard of ACN? I tried searching if a topic about this company has been discussed, but nada.

A lot of my friends jumped into it, paid the fee, started buying suits and all that.. Me and my friend's ages range from around 16-20, and they said you'll make money since you're still young, if you stick with the company..

I actually went to one of the meetings, and I was fairly impressed. It sounds just like any other company with just another product and services..

The reps over there did a good job making you feel like shit about your part-time job though. The whole, 'If you don't want to join, thats fine, we still need someone to flip our burgers, right?' speech. No, I don't flip burgers for a living.

Whatever, this is America. I came from a third-world country and I know I have got it going way better than my home country.

"they said you'll make money since you're still young, if you stick with the company.."

Wiki had this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACN_Inc.) to say. Even before I went to wiki the above sentence made me think pyramid scheme. I've run into something like that before. It sounded so good until I really thought about it. Those people build it up so good and wonderul but no job should make you pay it before it pays you

I also skimmed a bit through scam.com and google.com. Some people suggested most of the Reps at ACN were bribed, including Donald Trump, even though he is retardedly rich.

from Wiki..

On 15 November (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_15) 2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004), Australian Communications Network Pty Ltd (the Australian branch of ACN inc.) was investigated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Competition_and_Consumer_Commission) (ACCC) for alleged breaches of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_Practices_Act_1974) in regard to provisions in the act relating to pyramid schemes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_schemes).[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACN_Inc.#cite_note-ACCC-6) On 23 March (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_23) 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005), ACN was found by Justice Selway to have participated in, promoted and induced or attempted to induce persons to take part in a pyramid selling scheme. A federal court appeal later reversed the earlier decision made by Justice Selway. The ruling indicated that the alleged "recruitment payments" did not fall under the definitions of the law. The ACCC was ordered to pay court costs.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACN_Inc.#cite_note-ACCC-6)On 15 November (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_15) 2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004), Australian Communications Network Pty Ltd (the Australian branch of ACN inc.) was investigated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Competition_and_Consumer_Commission) (ACCC) for alleged breaches of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_Practices_Act_1974) in regard to provisions in the act relating to pyramid schemes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_schemes).[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACN_Inc.#cite_note-ACCC-6) On 23 March (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_23) 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005), ACN was found by Justice Selway to have participated in, promoted and induced or attempted to induce persons to take part in a pyramid selling scheme. Being in the low level of a MLM you never make a good return. You have to start out early and get a lot of people/tiers below you in order to make the good money.

Multi-level marketing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-level_marketing)

IMHO, MLM's are like a virus that needs new blood to live/thrive. They operate in a gray area as a pyramid scheme is illegal. But, they sell things to make it look legal even though the commissions from sales are low and most of the money is made from recruiting.

Amway is/was the worst. Even renamed them self's as quixtar to get more people that were turned off by the Amway name.
Amway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amway)
Quixtar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quixtar)
In re. Amway Corp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_re._Amway_Corp).

The reality is that your friends need people below them to make more money and they want you to join to make money off your sales. Kinda exploitative...

I went to one of the siminars since I figured it doesnt hurt to check it out, and also free food.

Its pretty promising since you pretty much carry all major telecommunications companies such is T-mobile, Nextel, Sprint, AT&T etc.

Also, monthly payments are a bit cheaper compared if you go to directly to the major companies, BUT not all the phones are available thru ACN(ie iPhone)

THe only thing that throws people off is that you have to pay a fee of $499 to open an acct. and you'll have to have a certain number of points(10 total) to actually start making money.

My friend joined this 2 yrs ago, and now she bought herself a nice house.

Its not for everyone.

Uh, No.
Pyramid scheme - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_scheme)

is not the same as:

Distribution (business - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distribution_(business))

A normal business model can support itself when it has enough people to fill the roles. Pyramid schemes can not and always need new people to stay alive. Normal distribution models can operate with the same number of people forever. Only need more to increase output. Pyramid schemes will dry up and run out of money if they don't keep adding people. Like a virus that needs a new host once it drains the current one.

The difference is that a normal business adds value, or should be at least, to every step of the process.

A pyramid scheme adds no value and relies on new people to contribute money. Some clever people attempted to circulate products (toothpaste, penciles, etc.) within a pyramid scheme and claim that since there is a product, the scheme is not a pyramid scheme.

The difference is that the product being circulated doesn't have any intrinsic value in the market (or very little value).

A normal business essentially converts the labour of its employees into something more valuable than what the company consumes. The product/service has an intrinsic value in the market, and could be liquidated into a cash value.

Beat me to it.

Not only that but if you start to build the pyramid eventually it becomes mathematically impossible to sustain.

Say you have to recruit 6 people.. do the math. By the 11th level, that's larger than the population of the US!

01 > 6
02 > 36
03 > 216
04 > 1,296
05 > 7,776
06 > 46,656
07 > 279,936
08 > 1,679,616
09 > 10,077,696
10 > 60,466,176
11 > 362,797,056

But, I do work in the MLM world. I work for Usana Health Sciences.

The company makes superior supplements thats changed my families health, thats the main reason why im doing this on the side. I can't complain about the money, heck I work 2 hours a day. The most important part, it keeps my s14 clean! =)

Theres 3 types of people.
1- People that tried it and failed.
2- People who have never tried it, speaking as if they have.
3- People who have tried it and done well on it.

you see, you will be like this and people around you hates you. if you want to success in your line, you will have to believe in it. and you believe in it so much you want people around you to believe in it too. it becomes rather annoy. my bro's wife join few of those kind of stuffs, i admit the product works amazing good, but nor i will try buy more than once a year or tell people around me how good it is.

it is a religion.

btw, they religiously praised "DR. M W wentZ" in Usana health science. but if you search pubmed (which is the most trust and accredit peer reviewed scientifically publication), that fool only has 3 publishes made in the database. and two of them are unrelated to the products that they are selling and another he is not even the principle investigator (meaning his contribution is uncertain, i had a publication in pudmed in same way too and i am still not sure what was it about)

I totally 100% completely agree with NismoKidd, I myself works with Usana Health Sciences. Ive myself been taking the nutritionals since i was 16, my whole family takes them. Not every MLM company is considered a *pyramid scheme*. If you were to define a pyramid scheme then most would say * people at the top makes the most money, or recruiting is bad*..if so the NBA, NFL, Harvard, Standford etc their all bad. In the Corporate Society with any company, the person on the top (CEO) makes the most money, but how come their not consider a pyramid scheme? All I'm trying to say is not ever MLM is bad, maybe some are, but some of the good ones are truly noted. Me as a 18 year old, high school dropout, been kicked out of 4 schools, no diploma, no college degree, I seriously cant complain about what I'm making and where I'm at in life. If people still want to hate thats fine, but haters recognize good work. When your researching about something or a company, please note which is fact or fiction, PERSONAL OPINIONS or PROVEN FACTS.

In March of 2007 Barry Minkow of the “Fraud Discovery Institute” (FDI) put out a big nasty paper charging that the MLM Company Usana was a Pyramid Scheme. Minkow also “shorted” Usana stock to fill his ex-felon pockets (or shadow clients). The Wall Street Journal said this on March 15th 2007:

“But the Salt Lake City-based company's unusual sales system is drawing a skeptical review from Barry Minkow, the convicted stock-fraud felon turned private investigator who has bought "put" options on Usana's shares in a bet the price will fall. Usana traded yesterday at $58.77, up 24 cents, at 4 p.m. on the Nasdaq Stock Market and now has a market value of about $1 billion.”

Maybe open up a restaurant like I always wanted to, but than again that would cost 100 to 150K to startup, but theirs a 92 percent failure rate within the first 5 years, must be a scam. i believe it just some active ingredient can achieve those results, however, you do need long term studying for following up side effects. like i said, many direct marketing products seems works, but they are not Federal approved (i.e FDA). i wonder why? if it works so well, why not all medical center and hospital just tell patient to take the magic pill/powder.

maybe you can go study oriental medicine and do your direct marketing on the side. but i can assure you that you cannot live with it or get rich with this. one guy at my college was pretty high on this kind of stuffs and leased a $1000/month car and roll like a baller. it only last him a year and then we all saw bank come and took his car away and people under him finally lose their FAITH and quit.

I never said it was a get rich quick scheme. Maybe ACN, but not Usana. I never said I made extremely large amounts of money. I never told Steven to come in and post what he posted, I told him to check out this thread. And he decided to post his oppinion. I don't get paid extremely well, but its good enough for the amount of work I put in. Everyones oppinion seems like, everyones heard of this guy or heard of that guy that joined and failed. If he failed, the system must not work! 8 out of 10 guys I know failed in school, man those schools must not work. I understand how you guys feel, I use to feel the same way, shit dont work, people on top makes all the money. The funny part is I make more than a lot of people above me, and shit does work, has helped my familys health. This is considered a home based business, with actual tax write-offs. Last I check I didnt choose numbers as if I signed up for a lotto ticket. Just like any business in the world, it takes time. People thats trained to work a job won't last in mlm because their mindset is waiting on that next paycheck to arrive without putting in much effort. Because at a job, their only working hard enough so their boss wont fire them, and the boss is only paying you enough so you wont quit. At mlm, its based on effort more than time. People that failed must not be putting in enough effort.

FDA does not regulate on any type of Vitamins.

GMP certified
NSF certified
PDR certified

Hospitals don't give a shit about prevention. Think about it, would the government make money if everyones getting healthier and not needing to go to the doctors as often?

Check my previous posts, check the usana site. I don't think it states anything about it being a miracle drug or powder as riverside said.

Its only common sense that with a well balanced nutrition, you 'can' prevent your body from getting illness or certain degenerative diseases. Keyword can, because its still 20% hereditary based on your previous families health. Its just like a car, if you keep it up to par with proper maintenance and what not, wouldnt it run better longer?

If only common sense was more common.

sigh......
