First of all, i have an s13 and am now running the stock cam set up. 240/248

I was running the 248/248 with +5 advance on the intake.

however, my idle is still loopy, like im running a the 248/248 set up.

At first i was like "shit, did i just put the same cam back in?!?" so i double checked, and i have the correct cams in the correct place.

So then i checked to see if there was play in the gears, which there was on the exhaust gear, which would cause more overlap.

Found another gear, put it on, no play. But i still have a loopy idle.

So any ideas on why i still have the loopy idle??

Is there a difference between the intake and exhaust cam gear?

Any help would be fantastic

idle problems are usually associated with the IACV. theres a new writeup that resolves the issue with the idle by regrounding four ground wires... you can also carb clean the IACV when ur car is on. i am not sure if that's the idling issue you have though since you are referring to cams

i know what you're refering to, but the problem is different than the iac and grounding issues. the idle is consistantly loopy. its not sparatic, or fluctuating up and down randomly, it's exactly the same as with the bigger cam. Meaning its running like it has too much overlap, very odd.

so i'm wondering if there is a difference between the intake and exhaust cam gears, maybe thats the problem. if not, then i dont know.
