Some of yall know me, some not so much. I have been around this stuff way too long and have ALWAYS had RB20s...about 7 RB20 powered vehicles over as many years. I am now on my 2nd R32 skyline drifty car. (why the hell did I ever sell the old one??wtf?). I finally manned up and did some real mods to the ole RB20 to get decent power on my last car (Black S14 kouki) and on this one (93 R32)....That resulted in about one tranny per week going boom when drifting on man tires and man alignment settings. I got tired ogf it after having my day cut short in the 2nd round of tandem at Hyperfest this year, so I let myself get talked into something crazy....

I figured that since I have had bad luck with friend's RB25s, and I dont like the way they feel....

...and I dont wanna spend $700+ for an RB25 tranny plus drive shaft mods etc.....

....and I am a lil bummed by the late spool of the HKS2535 on the 20.........

Why not pick up a sub $2000 1JZGTE vvt-i????

If should be a pretty easy swap, right?

With about a $2600 budget, some spare parts, a complete motorset, and a lil help from the fine fellows at MA (welding some stuuff and loaning tools and infos), it LIVES! It is far from "done", but it now runs and drives...and hauls butt! LOL.

In these pics, there is a broken (US passenger side) motor mount (like BAD), so it has a gangster lean. That is fixxed now with pimped out hoe made puck mounts.

Here are some random pics of the hunk o poo herself....doing what she did so well when not in peices.

Sorry, I have no pics of the underhood before last week, but just imagine a really dusty crusty dirty ass stock RB20 with a front mount.....done.

Here is the hunk we dropped in it in about 5 days....

Thankyall for the kind words.

As for the price of the vvt-i 1J, I didnt even know I was getting THAT good of a deal till after I bought it from him and I was looking on ebay for upgrade parts... I saw em for like $3500 plus shipping and was like WHOA! He really did hook me up. No crackhead deal status or money needy stuff either, just him wanting to see me do the 1j instead of messing with the old motor anymore.

The car and the engine are dingy at best right now, but Imma try and have it a lil scrubbed up by e-town.

I love those pics from Hyperfest! I dont know if Phil took the pics or who, but they are GREAT.
