I have a stripped down vq35 and vq swap kit ready to swap in but I got to thinking about building a KAT and using that instead. I'm aiming for 300-350whp range which is a hard/expensive goal to reach with a n/a vq35. KAs are dirt cheap I would build it from the ground up pistons, cams, rods, etc the works. Before someone says SR I'm not a huge fan I like the torque of the vq and ka and parts are easy to come by at any dealership or autozone, not so much for a sr. I'm just weighing the pros and cons right now...
vq pros original swap, reliable n/a power, new technology...cons wiring nightmare, no one has a 100% working functional swap, expensive mods, need to buy all wiring harness/ecu/nats which isnt cheap
ka pros cheap parts, drops right in, already have all the necessary wiring...cons old technology, not sure of reliability of boosted ka?
ultimately its my choice but what do you guys think?
