what do you recommend? I can spend around 1000.
17x8.5, which offset is good?
I was thinking RPF1 +22mm
gravity +29mm but a little heavy 22lbs
anything else that's light and will fit s13?

I would suggest a better size/offset first of all.
Second- 1000 wont really get you many LIGHT wheels... The fno1rc comes in good sizes with your budget.

RPF-1's are hard to beat for the dollar per pound ration. Plus, the looks grow on you over time. Here they are on my S13 for reference. Decent looking IMO.

gravity's shouldn't even be mentioned in there
in 17x9 the rpf1's are 16 lbs
fn01r-c's are 19lbs.
and you say in 17x8.5 the gravitys are 22 lbs? that is shitty pepboys wheels weight territory. they are pigs. shouldn't even be mentioned.
rpf1's are going to stretch your budget a bit, but they are practically the best wheel in terms of cost/lightness. they are lighter than volk te37's (17 lbs iirc) in the same size and cost HALF as much. so yeah. weds tc105 are lighter... but the difference is less than half a pound. and they cost like $175 more per wheel.
go to www.wheelweights.net. plug away and see if you can find a better wheel on those terms. i doubt you'll be able to.

will RPF1 17x9 offset +22mm work for front and rear S13 hatch without the need to pull/roll fender? please help me out, I'm about to buy the set. thanks guys

yes. I run x9 +20 just fine. I have a roll/pull on the rear to allow me to fit 275s

Either the RPF1 or these...
http://www.koseijp.co.jp/engfl/specs/s_9_K1-TS.htm
It woudl have to be 17x8 and 17x8 tho.... either way, they weigh the same as the RPF1's ... I love them both!

on the site, it said the wheel require tunenr adaptor, what is that? and I have to use tuner bolt. Does RPF1 require adaptor and tuner bolt? or can I use the stock bolt? By the way, how big is the 240sx hub?
sw20>>s14
01-08-2008, 02:26 AM
theyre just talking about tuner nuts with a tapered seat...its highly recommended that you use aftermarket tuner lug nuts with any aftermarket wheels...240s hub bore is 66.06mm...do some searching to answer your basic questions...

there are other wheels that are just as light but nowhere near as inexpensive as the RPF1.

Just tuner lugs.....
The 17x8 for the front are on sale right now too.... $199
The rears are not.. but still only $259
The RPF1 are $259ea as well... so the price is close.
Let me know... I can hook a brother up!!!

After you get the wheels that meets your criteria , start a thread of tire weight, I dont think any or close to none, post weight of tires. You will have to get input from ppl and see which one grip best vs weight vs price.
Let me know how it turns out. It sounds like you have the right mindset.

I think citytireonline.com has some tire weight, but they don't have every tires though.
So RPF1 it is then. However, will +35mm offset OK on a S13 hatch without hitting the KTS coil and suspension arms? I trying not to hit the suspension nor the fender.
So the RPF1 has larger hub bore then 240sx, does the hubring fix that?

+35mm is a terrible offset. If your running a 17x9 you could run a +17-25 without hitting the KTS. I ran KTS with +30mm on 17x7.5 and 17x9 no hitting and you could go lower on the offset without scraping your fenders. Plus a roll and pull is not a big deal. I run 17x9 +12 57 MAX's now and I rolled and pulled with some decamber and its not a problem.
By the way 57 MAX's rock over the kosei's or the Enkei's

^^^ how is 57 max better than RPF1? is it lighter/stronger/quality?
why is +35mm a bad offset? will it hit the coil? I could go +22mm offset but then it'll be very close or hit the fender.

two options I guess:
1. stick with +22, possibly a slight fender roll, but with stretched tires you should be fine
2. get +35 and you won't hit anything, but you're going to have some gap

get the +35
stock height AJ. The minute you drop the car it decambers and tucks. Plus thats some beefy sidewall action hahahhahhaha.
FYI I run a 17x9 +12 in the rear with a 225/45 17 and a roll with a very slight pull and I have room for a 235 if I wanted to go there easily.
link to pics of my car and in the same thread 240 Falkons who is running a 18x9.5 in the rear with a roll and pull. So size wise a 17x9 +20 would fit just fine. Like I said before +35 is a horrible offset and so 2000-2001 lol

yes it does, also picking the tire size for clearance always helps. If your staying 4 cylinder a 225/45 will work just fine. If you want a little more beef and are going up in HP a 235/45 would work as well.
I would recommend a roll just to to stay on the safe side. Plus a roll and a pull on a S13 looks dope. IMO
If your just going for all out then you could join the 245/255 club and some folks even go wider than that. Though you need HP when your running that much rubber.

Different coilovers sometimes yes, sometimes not

For S14 there's slightly more front coilover clearance than S13 (I assume that pic is S14)

A 5mm spacer should solve all your problems on the inside.
How much work you have to do to the fenders will depend what ride height you're at.

This is 17x9+20 on a S13:
get the +35
It all depends on how good you are at wheels and fitment. If you're lazy and just want to put on wheels and be done, +35 MAY work for you.
But if you want your car to look half way decent, you'll regret +35. You'll want closer to +10 then +35
Oh and 17x9 +22 would rub coilovers on my car.
And 57 Max aren't THAT light.
S14DB
01-09-2008, 01:28 PM

i'm thinking of 235 tire, will that be ok, not rubbing?
If people keep saying that 22mm will rub coil then how low do I have to go and not rub coilover? then some people say 35mm is good fitment, but isn't that even more closer to the coilover and rub more? i'm confuse.
TheSquidd
01-09-2008, 01:55 PM
We each speak from experience of our own cars, with different chassis, alignment, s13, s14, different coilovers, wheel designs etc etc.
I know from MY experience that anything over 17x9 +20 with Silkroad coilovers and 3 degrees of camber, will rub the coilover. And also look really gay and sunk.
How it works for you is different.
The general rule of thumb is, go as low offset as you can. And 35 is not as low as you can go. For sure.

youre not a very conceptual learner are you? just visualize and FULLY understand why you need "parts" or "upgrades" before even considering them...the width of a wheel has nothing to do with your studs...only time you even need to consider ext studs is when you plan to run sandwich spacers...
and i know each time someone adds another point of interest or phrase, a whole can of worms will come spilling out...so like stated before, just bum around the forum or search and all these rudimentary questions will be quickly answered...

the problem with 57max's is they are relatively heavy (despite the brand name), and therefore have no place in a thread about lightweight wheels
57 max at 17x7 is already heavier than a 17x9 rpf1.
rpf1 at 17x7 is a full 2 lbs lighter
even the fn01r-c at 17x7 is lighter by 1.5 lbs, and its really a midweight wheel
