My s13 is on silkroads and the fronts are as low as they can go and the back has alot more but where it sits now is perfect. I drive my car everyday but havnt driven it all summer since i got it out of paint and have been trying to finish up a bunch of misc stuff.

I just noticed yesterday that my oil pan is really close to the ground, I just wanted to see if anyone else oil pan is this close to the ground and if they had any problems with it. I dont ever want to hear it scrape the ground but im trying to avoid raising the car.

the scrapes in the oil pan are from the car with the 16s and higher ride height

get a bodykit

then you can raise the car and it will look lower and you wont scrape your oil pan

Thats not that low because of the 18's. That oil pan wont dent in like a stock pan will either so you should be fine. "If sparks dont fly, your rides too high"
What is going into the side of your pan?

theyre 17s

the kid who had the car before me had the oil pressure sensor for the gauge in the oil pan:coolugh: so when i replaced the oil pressure switch with the gauge sensor i just used the old switch to plug up the hole in the oil pan for now.

los_inc

get solid motor mounts so it lifts the motor a bit
also get some skirts and aero so you can get off the ground a bit
on the other hand you can just get a street sign and drill some holes and mount it under your pan.

jesus christ. You don't raise your car when you get a kit.

Too Low is when you have less than 2in of compression travel. You're not anywhere close.

When my tires are rubbing on my hood. Then I'm too low.

You are not low. At all. Period.

as said a hundred times, that aint even close to being low. my sway bar is like 1" off the ground, so my oil pan is like 1.5" off the ground.

When you start scraping pan then it's too low. Make a skid plate or something. Car looks good tho.

You could probably still fit a regular floor jack under there. I don't consider myself low... but for where I live, it's fucking low enough, and I can't fit a floor jack under my front end anymore... not even close.

Jussssst low enough. Power steering rack is like 1/2" off the ground. Scrapes on pebbles.

Edit- Damn that car low... Off tracking that would ruin your day....

240trainee

and scraping the bumper is nothing

when you have to drive on blocks to just get the jack under the car with the bumper/ sideskirts off, then your getting there.

this is retarded...i drive my car everyday on a shitty island that is anything but smooth and flat, hardly 20 min away from NYC , the roads suck and i dont need a 15 min disassembly's before i can get my car on a jack or god forbid a lift.

the nose cant go any lower anyway, i doubt cutting the rings off would make that big of a difference. when i go from 235/45s to 235/40s thats the lowest im gonna go so quit ur bitching i didnt ask if i was low enough.

You're a tool.

When you ask "How low is too low" and then post pictures of a car that isn't low, you ARE asking for it.

your low when you have to use 3 jacks to change a tire

i have to use one jack to raise it up a little bit
then a super duper low jack to raise it up for the normal jack to put it on a jackstand

and i drive a luxury car

your not low

I do it one of two ways.

2 pieces of wood, 2 jacks. As described above.

OR

A razor and one jack. Cut the zipties off my aero, take aero off, jack up with super low jack on tow hook, change tires, drop down, put aero back on.

I prefer the latter method.

oh and i cant fit a 2x4 under the front bumper either.....so yeah

Love how everyone is bashing this guy for not being low enough and not just answering a question. Hey lets be sweet and see how low and undriveable we can get our car to be. It ain't cool unless you can't go anywhere or mess up your shit. Yup, sweet. My friend's miata is dropped on ksports and he can't squeeze a cell phone between the ground and the frame (and it can go lower), he doesn't drive it anywhere because he'll get stuck at the dumbest places so he's always asking others for rides. Yup, so awesome and functional.
My car sits on tein basics and I drive it everywhere. Only thing I have to do is go over speed bumps at an angle.

yokotas13

You're god damn right I make fun of some 4x4 240sx complaining about his ride height. I could drive that car over a mountain.

It's like people that have lived in the ghetto making fun of rich white kids complaining about how hard life is. How poor people make fun of how celebrities have really trite problems and it's a big deal to them.

We've been there, we've gone farther, we've been lower, and driven harder over larger obstacles. So take it from us, shut your chump ass mouth OR slam your car before you complain. Your shit isn't low, you have nothing to complain about. If you want to avoid hitting shit either learn how to drive your car or raise it up. Why the fuck is this a thread?

Best step correct in this hood. Raw down here.

I love talking shit.

Make a couple nice long terraced plywood ramp and take you bumper off and you usually are fine. Even with those, it'd be nice to find a lower jack.

"Too low" is probably when your aero or other car parts are below the surface of the road when the car is sitting on the ground.
If you arent rubbing or scraping frame and have tons of bump-steer, you're not low enough.

To the original poster: you probably asked this question in the wrong place, since most people on here dont have much regard for what 'normal' people think of as functional rideheights or suspension geometry.

This thread is uber lame.

I'm ending it now. Not to save the OP from flaming, but because it's too easy to flame. When you post pictures of your car EVERYDAY, begging for attention, people are bound to give it to you. Too bad it's not the attention you want.

FAIL = :lockd:
