So I figured I would post up about my project as I promised in my intro thread (for those of you who read that stuff). I have been workign on this for a couple of years now, since I spend alot of time away from home it gets difficult to dedicate time to it with the wife and kid as well. However, When I am at home I tend to get a good 20 hours a week in on it.

The plans for the car are to go as fast as possible for as long as possible.

The Engine is close to complete with everything but peripheral modifications such as radiator and the various tanks and lines I have to fabricate.

So Satarting from the beginning.

The Engine Consists of the following
RB26DETT N1 Block
HKS 87mm Pistons
JUN Rods
JUN Billet Crank
Nismo Oil Pump
N1 Water Pump
Tomei Pan Baffles
Modified RB26 Oil Pan
JUN Rod Bolts
JUN Head Studs
HKS Metal Gasket Kit
1mm Oversize Intake Valves
Apexi V-Max Valve Springs and Retainers
Apeci V-Max Lifters
Apexi V-Max Cam Shafts (270/11.4)
HKS Cam Gears
HKS Timing Belt
Port and Polish
Valve Seat Cut and Grind
Squish Area Removal
GT HEad Cooling Mod (Will illustrate in pictures)
Sard 1,000cc Injectors
HKS Fuel Rail
Top Secret Intake Manifold with 100mm Throttle
HKS GT3040 Twin BB Turbine Kit (Good to about 1100PS)
Greddy Pulley Kit
ATI Crank Damper Pulley
GReddy 5 Core Intercooler

Chasis After the first two days of stripping and STRIPPING

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d199/CursedGTR/P1030298-1.jpg

Because the humidity in okinawa you have to prime it right after you strip it or you will get screwed. I used a pretty hard core gel like blue stripper that ate the paint to the metal. I also used Gasket remover in hard to get to places. The entire car was stripped inside and out.

Ugly Crap Like this area under the batter plate motivated me to glass the front part of the engine bay
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d199/CursedGTR/P1030299.jpg

The Flares are done all the way to the apex of the wheel well to allow for maximum clearance when the widebody kit goes on. If I want to pass inspection with no problems I cannot cut the quarters off so they stay and just get deeply modified (really doesn't matter as they will be under a BN Sports fiberglass body kit).

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d199/CursedGTR/P1030317.jpg

Engine Bay Work. Holes were filled in with resin then sanded and three layers of fiberglass was put in then more resin, a bit of bondo to fill in divits and more sanding, then complete.

DAMN any thoughts on paint color? wheels?

I had my buddy that airbrushed the valve cover mix up a really nice shade of blue that I like (kind of light and in between a powder blue and a metallic/electric Blue) I intend to use it on the interior and the engine bay and trunk. The exterior will likely be a slightly darker version with a coat of Pearl as well. I should be in the paint phase in about two weeks so I will keep you all posted. All I really need to do is complete the sanding and prep the body kit. Then it is time to color my little book.

The Rims I want are outside of my budget right now because I want to spend some serious cash on Engine Management (I am thinking Motec or Electromotive) and the proper gearbox is not cheap either, So I am going to go with some AllStadt 18's (I think 12J and 11J respectiveley) that someone is holding onto for me.

Once the car is complete and has been registered again, I will Most likely go with a custom set of Rays 57S with Iridium Lips.

The flares allow for the wider wheels and the vertical travel of those wheels. They will be covered by the wide body kit, I could not cut the fenders because inspection regs in Japan do not allow it.

I did sheet metal but it turned out wrong so I removed it. That is fiberglass, not solid filler so the weight difference is trivial at best and makes no difference. The sheet metal blocked certain holoes that were in close interval to the headlight cradle. The fiberglass was easily contoured and blended to work with that obstacle.

Destroyed squish???? Are you nuts? That was done by Nagoya Precision with a tried and proven CNC program. But yes this car is meant to go fast and maintain high RPM, Drag would be cool but I ma thinking more along the lines of Silver State Classic.

So i take it this is a drag car since you completely destroyed the squish area on the head?
.

Removing the Quench zone (as you guys call it, the "squish area") allows for easier sweep through cycle. Yes, alot of drag racers fuck with that area of the head. BUT, they also do alot more than just remove the quench zone (they also add material to divorce the valves). If you ever go to the funny car or rai lcar races, you will see, that they always hide the heads or cover them with towels. They are quite secret and make a huge difference in the way a car performs, yes, maybe its only an extra 60 hp on a 3,000 hp motor... but ... wouldn't that still be "an edge"? (rhetorical)

My KAT s14 is a drift car. It has the quench zones removed. (it also has 10.14 : 1 compression YIKES!!!)... it works just fine!

either way, nice build

Not Really. It looked like shit. I picked it up from a garage out in town without a motor and drive train (pretty much a rolling chasis) it had faded ass paint and four different shocks and springs (stock, tein, some off brand and an HKS if I remember correctly) we put it on four donuts and trucked it to the garage with the GTR rear end that will be put in it. Once I got to the garage I stripped the remaining of the car down and got started so the crap condition of the exterior did not do it any further injustice. To my surprise there was very little rust to deal with which made my life easy enough.

O that makes more sense about the fiberglass.

But usually with the squish/quench removed it will detriment the drivibility of the engine, and the ability to modulate the engine smoothly.

Yeah, the glass seemed to be the way to go on that one
as far as squish it is ideal as I am not tuning for street drivability but pure power at top end. I am looking to run this car at 7500 plus RPM for extended periods of time. Since Races like the silver state classic are high speed races, I will need to be high in the RPM and Boost range (7500 and 1.4 - 1.8 Bar) for extended periods of time which kind of makes this mod ideal.

If this was going to be a highly modified street car I would agree with you and leave the squish area in, but this car will not be driven daily as the maintenance required for that would be extremely time consuming and kind of expensive plus the car will not be set up for that, should I decide to street it, I will just build another RB26 that is more suitable (something in the 600hp range) but 900 plus is not daily driver material on a RB26.

They are functional just not pretty. They will not be visible once the body kit is on. Japanese Inspection Laws do not allow me to cut the fenders for wide bodies and really wide rims, so the flares have to go to the apex of the wheel well to allow for suspension travel without the tires hitting the body.

EJ253

hmm, im kinda confused because we dont really have any laws like that in the US.

the way we do wide body here is cutting away the stock 1/4 panel and putting on over fenders, im sure you know that tho.

so can you not tuck wheels into the fender?
more pics would be great

EDIT: i think i get it. you just flared the stock sheet metal straight out?

Let me break it down but yeah you are almost on track.

Cutting away the quarter panel here in Japan is considered to be negatively effecting the structural integrity of the vehicle. so in order to pass the inspection when I go to re register it I need to have the quarter panels on. Since I am going to legalize it with the engine and everything else, I am trying not to cause a failure on trivial stuff.

The Stock sheet metal is flared straight out and that is it so you are on the nose on that one.

Cool laws like being allowed to cut the quarter panel are cool in the states, but I get to legalize a car with a 900 plus HP RB26DETT in it which is not so doable in the states lol, so I'll trade ugly quarters sitting under a widebody for a fully legal S15 with RB26 (I think it might be an even trade but I am not sure as of yet).

I want to use a super wide tire in the back (like a 315 or more if possible) so I needed to wide body it to accomodate the necessary wheel width.

More pics will come soon. Once I get back and get back to work, I will put alot more pictures.

O. I thought this was going to be a street car.

I have also allways wanted to do the silver state classic. What kind of cage are you going to fabricate for that?

Good build. :w00t: :w00t:
Dunno, I am going to roll with the Safety 21 8 Point for a while get things tuned and make sure I am good to go, the cage will be reapproached once I get back to the States with it and am ready to run (current cage is mainly for prevention of chasis twist not really focused on safety with this one). Mainly because, there are alot of reputable shops in the states that will do it for a decent price and I will be able to be there and make sure things are done how I want them. I would not have that ability here as I would have to ship it to Mainland. Being a hands on type of guy, that would not be very cool with me.

Oh Duh You are talking about what it looked like when Stock Garage had it. It was a really nice car back then.

Then Michiya got his hands on it and voila!!! EL POS Express.

ouch so Michiya was the last person to touch the car eh? I remember from what Netrat was telling me, it took him almost 8 months to get his RB25 tranny mated to his SR from Michiya. He seems like a really cool guy to get parts from but thats it. Work from him is like getting your teeth pulled with a pair of tweezers. :keke:

okay, if the delorean in back to the future was a time machine, i think your car is going to be a strait up speed demon sex machine.

and thats really cool that you are going to do the silver state classic, some asshole who has an Pizza place won it in his corvette one year he also has a f50 ferrarri, he is a stuck up pompus prick.
good luck with the build and with the race. lookin forward to new pics.

Finally got back to work in the past few days. Did not have a camera for a while so some pics do not have progress just end result.
Summary of owrk completed.
- Cut front of frame rails to allow for recession of 5 core interccoler so that it fits behind the bumper without cutting the crap out of it.
- Welded end plates onto the frame rails and grinded, filled and primed them.
- Mocked up intercooler to determine proper measurements for some brackets and measured it all out.
- finished sanding the car with 400 grit and layed new primer coat (will sand with 600 grit int he next couple of days)
- Removed vertical supports in the core support to allow for fans, radiator and intercooler to fit in as small a place possible.

Work Pending (next 7-10 days) -
- Weld new mounting bungs onto intercooler bottom side and top side
- Make cutom headlight brackets
- Vent the front bumper to get as much airflow as possible.
- Put Engine in the Chasis and determine the routing of the intercooler piping (only so I can cut holes before paint).
- determine radiator placement (if it does not fit how I want it to, it is going in the trunk).
- Make intercooler mounting brackets.
- change subframe bushings
- Reinforce Subframe.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d199/CursedGTR/DSCF0019.jpg

The Bottom Interccoler mount is going to tie into the fron subframe (the one that holds the tension rods and the radiator) Here are some pictures of the beginnings of figuring out how to do it. I think I got the idea that I want to use so I am heading to a shop to see about getting the mounts made (Hoefully one piece Billet dealies) and some bungs welded to the bottom in the necessary places to make it work.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d199/CursedGTR/DSCF0017.jpg
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d199/CursedGTR/DSCF0016.jpg
The aluminum squares were being use to figure out how thick a bracket would have to be to become flush. That way from there I know how thick to make the bracket in order to make it meet up with the bung on the intercooler and merry up nice and securely. I am very sure the end product will look very professional and be reliable and functional as a mount.

The beginings of what is to become a collection of suspension pieces (HKS Hyper Drag Coilovers) Not so good for Highspeed stuff but great for drag racing. Figure I will have to get a different set when it comes time to do other things with the car.

Well if you learned anything you would know that fiber still needs to be smoothed out some how so it does not look like shit when painted. The bondo is about a micromillimeter thick as it only fills in the divits in the fiberglass. All the brown shit you were seeing in the engine bay was straight Resin, Powder and Glass, so High school Body shop I think Not.

Read the Title, Last I checked, there was no 240sx S15 nor did the 240 SX come right hand drive.

AND If you are talking about the frame rail work, uh grinded welds (read, we welded on end plates and then did the bondo work), smoothed out welds and using bondo to smooth ut the contour between the end plate and the surface of the core support a bit is about correct, unless you think I should weld on a bunch more material to accomplish this goal at which point I would say WASTE OF TIME as it would take days to get it right and would look horrid at best.

I had a T51R KAI Kit for it but it wasn't going to make enough power. The only people I have seen run big twins here in Japan were Wing Auto (S13/RB26/Twin 3240) and Zenitani (3037's/S13/RB26) There is of course the HKS 180 but that is a full race car. I figured what the hell??? The price was right for the kit and it was a bit unique too.

They usually run about 2,350.00 (with the current yen conversion) However, I picked mine up used off of a guy for 1100 ish. I have heard nothing but good things about them from people that use them.

ixfxi - That's cool you don't dig it, not everyone is going to, which is the reason it is a little unique. My friend that airbrushed the vale covers was given the following instructions.

"I like true fire but I hate it looking like regular fire because people put that crap on everything, I like blue and I like silver maybe a hint of purple so use your imagination and come up with something that everyone is either going to hate or love as long as I do not consider it hideous it will be cool" He hated the tribal idea and plain solid colors were out of the question (everyone does that).

The flames have a hint of purple hue that cannot be captured by the camera (I tried liek 50 times) but it is pretty cool when it sets off.

I did some more work this weekend as I took advantage of the wife being in Thailand still. Because of her absence I am doomed to a bad attitude, microwaveable or fast food only and working on my car every single little chance I get.
Anyways so here goes it.
Put the motor in the engine bay yesterday in order to determine where it sat so I could drill holes for intercooler piping. The Intake saide Hole is a 104mm Hole Saw, The Turbine Side Holes were a 73mm hole saw and a air saw that I used to modify a stock piping hole to fit a 70mm pipe. The Turbines are 60mm oultlet so the piping will immediately neck up to 70mm and under the car will go up again to 80mm. I know Bondo Sucks, but it is the only way I know of to fill in minor imperfections. Cake that shit on there and then sand it to nothingness that way it is only a one time application and that small little divit caused by the holesaw jumping and stuff liek that is taken care of without delaying you for days on end.
Looks like I will not have too many problems with the big twins in there but I have run into a problem with the Front wastegate not wanting to play nice with the motor mount, so I am going to modify it later on when I am working on engine stuff again.
I cut the core support in order to accompany a larger radiator with puller fans. According to the measuresments I took (I should be right in there, kind of tight but in there nonetheless. Once the core support was cut I cut up some sheet metal to start welding in so that the core support regains some of the strength it lost when I cut it (I took out the verticals so I got kind of worried about it) and also looks like it is supposed to be that way. So far so good, but I will not be done with that part until tomorrow. Pics Below.

I wish my car could MAKE 1.4-1.8 bar and run 7500+ RPM for extended periods of time...that's just intense. My turbo can't even handle that, let alone the engine.

As far as for your streetable 600hp RB, I totally agree with you there. That's pretty much exactly what I would have done...... :loco: I'm left speechless.

Drag times - I really have no clue as of right now, I would be happy in the Tens, would be thrilled in the nines. BUT The primary purpose of this car is stuff like the Wangan and Silver State Classic. Highspeed races like that.

Thanks all for your comments, Once this thing is painted and I am working on other shit, I plan on doing a step by step on a painless harness install, maybe some carbon fiber molding, Tilton Brake Pedal install and of course the Stack Logger System and ECU. There are other things I will be doing and when people post interest or comments I have no problem outlining how I did something as well.

For the Past week I have been working on my subframe and Crossmember. A complete PITA with little or no return other than aesthetic. However, After Using a Combination of PAint Stripper (The same stuff I used to strip my car) to remove paint, Pain thiner to clean and Naval Jelly to remove rust with a Die Grinder and wire wheel attachment I was able to finally get them read to go. This is what the subframe looked like as I started.

I decided to play around with some silver paint that I picked up at the hardware store and paint the crossmember with it as kind of a base coat before I put the permanent color on there. I also painted the subframe with it but had to remove it to fix little imperfections in my prep work that were irritating me.

Nah, C&Y mainly uses solid colors that fade in and out, but they also use alot of sheet metal trim in their engine bays, which I do plan to do. The idea for the valve covers really came from a chopper. There was a bike show here a while back while I was building the motor and I really admired the attention to detail that was put into the bikes from construction on, so I decided to do the same thing, outlandish paint and alot of polished stuff. So far so Good.

C&Y has a shop down here in Okinawa now and I used to live right across the street from them, but since I have moved I only make it down there occasionally (When they have something for sale that I want or I hear of a different car that is cool). I have never seen them use flames though.

No, we painted them up there at Hansen with regular old automotive paint.

I do all my work at a hobby shop. I just pay for the bay time there and since I bring my own welding supplies they usually do not charge me for anything since I even kick cash towards the gas bottles.

Ballin? Nah, not really, I save for and plan what the next step will be very carefully. I also sold my GTR in order to focus on this project which saved me a metric shit ton of cash. I am a Marine but I do some stuff on the side here and there as well in order to fund the habit.

Finished up some more work today. The car is getting masked off right now in preparation for the next stage in the paint work. Meanwhile, I painted the diff pumpkin and polished the diff cover, got the subframe bushings put into the subframe and modified the bumper with two Billion Carbon ducts just to get some extra air flow through the intercooler and to add a touch of originality. Pics Below as usual.

How come you dont have to notch the front of your oil pan to clear the sway bar? Is s15 chassis different than s13/14 fitment? I thought the front xmember was same on s14/15

RB Crossmember from a C34 laurel. I also removed all of the grating when I polished the oil pan as well. Therefore I have plenty of room for things like the steering rack. However, there is no sway bar attached in those pictures. I was simply sizing things up to figure out where everything was going to fit in at. I believe the C34 sway bar will work as bolt in with out interference, but if it doesn't I will most likely make one out of some hardcore aluminum or even stainless. We will have to see how it goes when we get to the suspension stage. I still have alot to think about on that one.

Updates will be coming soon. The area for the over fenders was painted yesterday and once I get done sanding and buffing it (sometime next week) I will go ahead and attach the body kit, make the little brackets that I need to make and paint the rest of the body. Then we can move forward into the fun stuff.

I thought about that, but I ran into to two things. If I do not up and do it on the spot, it won't get done and my daughter only allows about 10 minutes on the computer at home before she runs in and starts pressing keys all night long :hs: . It is easier to do it this way IMO. She is only 18 months old so I cannot beat her for it so dad just gets to sit there and take the torment the youngster has to offer.

I also like going this route, because guys (and a girl or two) ask questions about whatever and sometimes the solutions they have to a problem are better than the one I have or vice versa and that is what I believe a car forum should be about, so I try to encourage it through my build plus step by step you get weird little ideas that just add cool factor or even better performance.

Got some more shit done...
Painted the rear end so we could put the over fenders on and get the body kit mocked up and lined up. It is still not balls on but it will get there with a little massaging. caressing, drilling, bolting and riveting. I took some pictures of the gas tank area just to show the contrast of the interior color against the exterior color.
I also picked up my radiator and intercooler from John over at Sobe Power and Speed.
We added 2 -10 inlets and 2 -6 inlets to the radiator for various cooling functions that will be covered later on in the project.
The intercooler had some dents removed (pictured in previous posts), the small dents in the inlets and outlet straightened and some unneeded mounting flanges and bungs removed. On Monday, I will mock it up with some plate aluminum spacers and other dood dads in order to determine how we are going to construct the bottom mounting plate for this thing.
Enough BS, pics below.

Another boring yet somewhat decent update.
First off, I made some repairs to the fiberglass body kit (minor cracks and dings) which caused it to be a little bit off, so I spent most of the day perfecting my little repairs in order to ensure everything fit and lined up correctly. I still have some work to go with custom headlight brackets and some other things but for the most part it is lined up and ready to go.
John Pullen over at Sobe Power and Speed made a really trick intercooler mount for me, which consisted of welding two 19mm thick blocks of aluminum to the bottom of the intercooler and tapping them for 10mm bolts. I took the measurements and made the templates. However, I kind of fucked up the templates so the mounts are a bit off. We remeasured everything today and he is turning out some new ones so they will be balls on come this week. I learned a little bit about taking measurements in degrees and millimeters today, which I will ensure I use in the future.

For those of you who may ask me in the future, absolutely anything that requires truly custom and perfect machine work. I use John Pullen at Sobe Power and Speed (here in Okinawa). He has an imagination and ability to visualize what you are talking about and delivers an outstanding result within a very reasonable turn around time.

The Intercooler mount utilizes two T6 Aluminum Spacers that are 10mm thick and cut to the contour of the botton of the Tension Rod Brackets at the front (Where they mount to the bottom of the core support). This enables everything to be even. Then another T6 Aluminum 10mm thick plate is used to kick out perpendicular to the core support and bolt into the blocks on the bottom of the intercooler. Then, a final 10mm plate is used to sandwich the long brackets into place at the subframe. There is also a sandwich plate for the blocks on the intercooler, but since the alignment was a little bit off I could not depict them. Next week, when I have everything dead on, I will be able to show pictures of it successfully being implemented. I figured, very few people would ever use a mounting system this in detail, but now that I have had a taste of what it will be like, it is impossible for me to even consider any other route.
Also, I had some SPL Aluminum Diff Bushings (Front) that were pretty much useless. John went ahead and machined them down to the specs I provided him and we ended up turning them into Aluminum Radiator Bushings. Alot of people have asked about them rattling when driving, but that should be mitigated by a small rubber insulator that I will put in at a later date.
As Usual, Pics below.

Good thing I am a Gunny, I only report to two guys and both of them are on board with it. Pretty cool when your bosses even let you take some time when needed.

WhitGLX - I will be using a rubber insulator around the aluminum bushing. I doubt things are so fragile, that they can be rattled into cracking though. The Bushings are only 1/4 of what will be used to hold that radiator in place.

Finally got the intercooler brackets sorted out and the body kit is pretty close to being at the point I want it to be at. Should be in Paint By Christmas time. Just have a couple more things I am waitng on John to finish and am still pondering FRP doors before it goes into paint as well. For all of you carbon panel fans, I am totally against carbon fiber doors, trunks and hoods because of bad experiences and cost.

The intercooler brackets bolt in with the tension rod brackets and everything lines up very nicely. I am finally satisfied that I probably have more than necessary to mount any intercooler.

hey I just wanted to ask you why you are using 1000cc injectors on a setup that would need twice as much fuel. I have a 35r on my sr with 1000cc injectors and Im having problems with fuel at around 630-40 hp. I will be going with 1600cc. Although I thought it was an flow differance in the injector tolerances but my girl friend has the same issue with the 1000ccc rc engineering injectors she uses at 26-29 lb she has an unstable fuel rate. What are you using to tune thae car? And yes your motor is beautiful....
Oh and I saw the teflon tape.. use the teflon paste it works better.

also I have had a 6in core trust ftmic on a R33 on a single turbo HKS T04Z it made over 700whp although I hated the fmic I would like to know if you get better response with your twins? I stepped into a 3.5 or 4in core and got 700rpms faster spool up time with no heat differance or at least the date I was logging didnt change.

1,000cc injectors will be just fine on an RB26 Unless you are talking RB to RB you are talking apples and oranges in this category. I know a motor is a motor but the characteristics of these motors are quite a bit different. If you tune an RB to 900 HP with my como and you are not getting enough fuel, you might want to check your skills on the lap top. As this thread goes on, I will show things like fuel systems and all of that jazz quite a bit in depth but for now, I will just say that you are wrong and we can agree to disagree.

I thought about the whole 1600cc injector thing and even running dual fuel rails, but if Tomei (ran 1100 PS on two fuel rails feeding 6 550cc injectors each), Speed Factory (Tuning Shop Here in Okinawa), C&Y Sports, and a few other shops I know of can pull consistent power with 1,000cc injectors, I am pretty sure I will as well. One thing I have noticed with all of my friends and their SR's they run injector and Turbo combinations that I would never even think about running, yet they pull good power. I however, do not need anything above 1,000cc right now and I am sure my tune will be just fine.

Teflon Tape will be gone all together. I didn't like how that manifold came out so I will be doing a new one with everything welded on vice tapped. I have already given that one away. Teflon paste would be great over here if I could find it, or could read enough japanese to find it in the local shops. All I really know how to read is Chicken and turbo. So I know where to buy car parts and eat, that is about all I need right there isn't it??

The intercooler - We shall see, There is a huge difference between a T04Z and Twin GT3040's, I would venture to say my experiences will most likely be a tad bit different from yours.

Tuning - Have no clue on which computer yet but I am thinking, Motec M800, Autronic SM4, Haltech E11, Electromotive TEC GT. We will see what happens when it comes time to buy a computer.

Definitie no fucking way am I wiring that into my car computers - Power FC, FCON of any variety, E-Manage, Megasquirt, AEM, pretty much anything that would use the stock harness is a non starter.

No... There are only 25 shops allowed to sell it here in japan and you have to have it installed by them if you want the system, there are no authorized dealers here in Okinawa.

I stand corrected on the the injectors wasnt thinking about 4 cylinder uses fuel diff then 6. yes the turbos are diff and if 900 hp is ball park limit of injectors what ia a hp figure for you? and you are right with the ecu, I run aem on my and girls evo and we both dont realy like it I want to see how you will do if you do motec and she wants to do hks f con. Its nice to see a person that knows stuff on forum. Please dont take any thing I said the wrong way it just lets everyone learn. Thanks Will

My goal HP is right around 900-950 ish, I am very interested to see what happens with whatever computer I go with.

I didn't take anything you said (or rather typed) in any other way than someone else asking questions, I would rather respond to a post like yours, than someone that asks me something like the technical difference between my tail lights and the stock ones or something crazy like that.

so is JUN going to feature you as a lemon car that would be cool. I wish you luck with the massive sponsers you get. Also how are you dealing with brakes on your car, carbon maybe. I have an ATS tripple carbon clutch in my car and when it heats up its great loves clutch kicking lol. So Im guessing you will heat them up enough going that fast so is that something you thought about? I have the wilwood 13in all around still on booster but since I dont plan on doing to much more street driving I was going to a direct pedal setup because still not happy. What is thoughts on brake systems?

For Now I have a Rotora 6 POT (355mm Rotors) Set up for the Front and 4 POt (330mm rotors) for the rear. I will use their Rotors and some good pads. A tilton Floor mount pedal set up (The wilwood over hung didn't fit right) and a balance bar and Bias know set up. I will use brake Pressure sensors int he front and rear lines to ensure I am getting the proper brake bias split and we should be good. If that little plan fails we will reapproach it from a different direction.

I wish I had sponsors sometimes, but I think this one will remain a personal affair and maybe when I build another one, I go for sponsors on that one.

you can never have to much power

Im on track to catch my friends 950 whp evo so any one have a 42r they would trade for a 35r and some cash?

Good luck on your build doesnt look like you need it though. Great info, thats what forums should be about. I want to sleep with your motor LOL

amazing work.. most people just make crappy little 1/8 aluminum brackets using scrap metal laying around... but your doing things right... i assume you have your own cnc setup...or work for a place who does?... i know how spendy it can be when getting small things like that made... but yeah

you dont cut any corners... great job on the build.. cant wait to see the final product...

oh... and now, when i think of s15... i think of your car

CursedGTR

I have another question what do you think about itb compared to regular plenum?

I like them both, but for different reasons.

ITB's - Definitely good for track work (of course I am only referring to the RB26 right now), great throttle response and easily tuned for upper levels of power by getting bigger ones or running larger surge tanks. But the ones that I had on my GTR were stock with the Greddy surge tank, work out great for drag racing but not so good for throttle response. For the throttle response thing I would stick with stock (even though it has that little problem with leaning out the 6th cylinder) or the Nismo Surge Tank. The only thing that I really despise about the ITB's is making sure all of the adjustment rods are correct and not at different lengths, sometimes that can be a PITA.

Single Throttle - Good for top end shit on RB26's but not as responsive as the stock ITB set up, but definitely the way to go if you are going high revolutions and not exactly looking for response (liike high speed or drag racing where you will launch at high RPM), on a circuit I would be ITB's all day and a bit less than 950HP, I would be more in the 600 range.

All of this is just from my Opinion and experience so some may disagree with it.

I use an American Machine Shop over here (Sobe Power and Speed)and the guy is pretty good at visualizing what it is I want him to do for me. Really great work all around all the time. I basically come up with an idea, make a template, take it to him, double check, correct if needed, get final product. When I go back to the states I will probably pick up some of my own gear and spend time just making cool shit. Maybe a while down the road I might open up a shop if I can find an entire staff that has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Well you have some skills. Hope you make military a retirement. But damb make some fat cash doing this for others.. And you dont have a shop. I only see Top Secrete, Mines, HKS, and hand full of others kinda building things like this. SICK!!! Open a shop after this and bet millions will come...

I will consider the Haltech but at the end of the day, it comes down to the computer that can meet what is needed with the most reliability and cost efficiency possible. although motec and cost efficiency are no where near each other it is still an awesome computer that I should consider if the price is right when I go to buy.

I know what you mean about everyone wanting the cheapest stuff possible and I guess that is cool, I would rather just do it right and save the money to get what I need when I need it. If that means I slow down on the project for a while, so be it, it will be done as I envisioned it rather than have a bunch of compromises.

I figure, if I opened a shop I would have to be able to come up with low cost solutions to high end dreams. pretty damn hard to do but possible as long as people keep it real we will see where it goes later on as I get closer to making that decision.

The Biggest things that I would want my shop NOT to be:
- Fly by night shitty swap shop.
- Dirty ass shop that people ask about on the internet because their first impression sucks
- Full of know it all fuck sticks that do not know how to listen to someone and then come up with a solution. I hate it when people get stuck in their ways and come up with lame shit due to laziness. I say this because I will probably be my own customer as well (Kind of like the hair club for men).
- Half assed in any way shape or form. I would want to be able to build or restore any car that came so it would have to be pretty extensive to reach those goals. That is why I am kind of thinking about it right now and trying to determine which way to go with it.

Motec M800!! Haltech is so old school..... So i herd... Your build might as well have the best since your putting a lot of sweat and tears....

Yeah some do have the funds though. But no body builds for freeway runs out here like that... Many are all HIN cars..

I still think this is a dream build its to much getting a headache...

Whats wrong with SR?? lol jk..

Unbelievable build. It's nice to see someone taking their time and putting so much effort into every detail.

If you decide you want the Defi Super Sports cluster let me know as the owner of one of those "25 shops'' is a friend of mine. I'm sure we could sneak one over to you. :naughty:
