Hello guys,
it is a pleasure to me to watch your great projects which gave me a lot of inspiration so i decided to give you something back. I like you guys over here at this board as some of you are very crazy, just as i am.
I think its now my turn to inspirate you guys with my project and i want to introduce it to you, so enjoy it and write what you are thinking of it.
History:
I bought the car back in May '06 it is an '90 RPS13 200SX ,i bought the car without a engine but with a good transmission and a relative good
overall condition. The previos owner ripped the engine out of the car for other purposes.
On the same day i bought a totally damaged '90 S13 A/T but with an good 30.000 km engine in it which was replaced and completly overhauled by nissan.
After we took the engine out of the damaged car and all the good spare parts we brought the car to the scrapjard, so i had one less SX in my garage.
The project:
The car is build up primary for trackdays (grip driving), especially for drifting and for the nicest and curvyiest streets in Black Forrest (Germany).
Before we took care on the upgrading we first fixed all the damages 16 car years had caused. All rust was removed carefully and other little and big problem zones of the car was fixed.
First i want to say that i want the car to be technically superb and want to save the money for expensive bodykits and rims for the first time.
The engine is a full Stage III setup with some goodies i will concentrate on a very good torque curve and response and not on the peak horsepower.
The important thing for me is to do as much as possible by myself and to be as creative as possible whether then spending a lot of money on expensive Parts.

The airbox and its mounting is finished now + painting the engine cam covers. The hood is painted now black and we are working on the air guide for the V-mount. Also we managed to get the battery in the boot. More pictures will be posted in one week.

Update:
We changed the timing belt and the two rolls, also we put the CA16DE Cam in and checked/set the ignition timing.
The engine is running fine and is making a very very insane sound.
Also we relocated the battery to the boot due to place problems in the engine bay and weight balance. The battery
will be covered by a box soon. (Its the old battery sitting there)

Are you going to paint the fenders red? I haven't seen an s13 with the whole top part being black (roof, hood, and light covers). That's cool.
I actually like the front bumper, but mainly because it's functional + stylish. If it were on a semi-stock S13, I probably wouldn't put it on (personally). Good job on that hood too. Before I scrolled up and saw where you cut it yourself, I thought it was aftermarket lol

Originally it was planned this way:

But as the first german drift board opened a month ago i offered the guys to put a huge decal on it for promo reasons. I'll get a custom decal graphic soon which will cover the whole side of the car and it is looking brilliant. :naughty:

Haha the clutch is good for 500hp i dont meant my engine have 500hp. The clutch is a bit overrated for my engine but there are not many clutches for the CA18DET, so i bought this one.
I dont know how much hp my engine is producing but i guess about ~300 hp, as guys over here in europe have 280-300 hp with much less performance related parts in their CA18DET at Stage III.

You might want to think twice about the heat wrap. It often works to well and builds up high heat in the cylinder head and turbo. The end result is a blown hg and turbo.

Trust me, the engine bay is far too hot for my taste, there is still heat escaping through the heat wrap, even some of my hoses melted as they was too near at the manifold. I planing to cut some more heat exit holes in the bonnet right above the manifold.

Yes we used lead on several parts of the car, some parts of the arches got some lead on them too. I think it is a bit more common to use lead over here in Europe but it is still not very popular.
That center concel is the sexiest thing I have seen in a while. What did you use to fill that?
I used a fixed sheet perspex from the back, and filler in the front.
did you paint the car yourself? looks great!
We did all the mods you saw by ourself in the garage including the paint and we will only do mods in the future which we can do by ourself. :D (Except custom mapping)

Just buying things is what every Kid can do, the complicated part is to get things on the car as you want, and then to get things working as you want.
You need very very good workmanship.
The car was built actually much cheaper then you guys might think as i did only lost money on the parts.

I saw CA18DET dynographs with a stock cam and a CA16DE Inlet cam, the CA16 cam will steal you about 10 hp at the top but will give you much more HP/Torque in the midrange. I dont think i have 320 hp at the wheels but maybe nearly this figure at the Flywheel.

stock HG 200 - 230 HP
stock piston`s lil bit over 300HP
stock con rod`s somewhere abouve 300+HP
................if i`m wrong correct me
so your stock bottom-end can hold lil bit over 300HP (depend on condition, temp, what oil is used......)but i`ve think its just a matter of short time until your HG blows.
i don`t say i wish you that, i would happy if not but that`s astonish me.......
especialy since i used much money, time and effort to build up my ca18 with good, strong engine parts JUST for run around 280 - 300HP safe
you run the same oil as mine, i was told by an another sx driver here in austria, who asked castrol what for oil should be used on a ca18det, that the best oil would be the castrol 10w60, i think its called "TWS" what you can ONLY get from BMW, its especially made for BMW (i think for the V10 M5, M6 engines) it hold almost three times the "pressure" as our oil, but i dont know how expensive it is:faint:

I think the high temperatures come form the manifold and turbo although the manifold is covered in anti-heat-band.
I choosed the CA18 because it is the stock engine in all S13's over here in europe.

You just have to put a big GT-wing on the boot to create as much or more downforce then a diffusor, this is what i'll do in the future. A diffuser have the same effect but will need a lot of more work to realize compared to a GT-wing.
One other thing is that you have to remove the fuel tank to create place for an effective diffusor.

I got my parts mostly from germany, england, the states and japan. We over here in germany have only a inspection every 2 years, i have one year left on my car.
Therefore i need to get my car legalized until then, what might be possible. Thats why i'm driving arround with it only at night, but there is still the risk to be catched by the german cops.
Because of this, this summer will be the last i'll drive arround with it on the street, the car is just to hardcore and dangerous for driving arround on the streets. Also the problem is that i want to make it even more hardcore. :bigok:

Just wondering where you get your parts from and how you are albe to pass yearly inspection on the 200sx with a modified engine.
The inspection is only every second year and it`s possible to legalize almost every modification in germany, but that`s very expensive. I`ve spent over 700 Euros just for the german TÜV this month.
Behind Horizon get A LOT of parts from frsport.com . I would recommend you also perfectrun, nengun, takakaira, japanparts. My favourite stores.
BH, sorry foranswering the questions for you.

stock jdm cluster goes up to 180 km/h though yours goes up to 220+
You just have to put a big GT-wing on the boot to create as much or more downforce then a diffusor, this is what i'll do in the future. A diffuser have the same effect but will need a lot of more work to realize compared to a GT-wing.
But wings are much more pitch and roll sensitive, and are more difficult to balance with front aero, assuming they provide any downforce at all (most wings sold are nicely fake). Properly designed underbody aero is the way to go, as it allows for a car that is aerodynamically stable with respect to center of pressure, and can provide more efficient negative lift.

You have to use a closed nut for the second, additional mounting pount.
If you use a normal nut, dirt comes in and will destroy the thread.

My new turbo ellbow and down pipe in one:
Circuit Sports Cobra, also we shortened it by 27mm as i wasn't satisfied with the clearance to the ground because my turbo is hanging lower then stock because of the Race-Manifold.
http://mitglied.lycos.de/bkfhw2005/Projekt/IMG_1601.jpg
http://mitglied.lycos.de/bkfhw2005/Projekt/IMG_1605.jpg
The next step was to cover the Cobra with an good heat shield to prevent burnt foots and legs.
http://mitglied.lycos.de/bkfhw2005/Projekt/IMG_1657.jpg
Also i wasnt satisfied with the ground clearance of the Spec II exhaust so we extended it by 70mm and welded the silencer
at a different angle on.

I made various templates for the holes with my computer and printed them out, that's why the holes are exact like that.
Then i used a jigsaw to cut the holes out, you'll maybe waste a bumper until you have a good result or maybe not.

So i sold him my old Stage III+ CA18DET and was looking for a RB25DET and found a "500hp-engine" in England after one week of searching,
however at the first time i just wanted the engine but the seller made me a good offer and so i bought the engine with the whole
car.
However i'll put the engine out of the cefiro when my hatch is finished so far and the Cefiro shell is already sold to someone as i dont like 4 door saloon cars at all now.

Update:
The ceffy arrived from England:
As the cefiro was/is a drift car its pretty much beaten up but thats fine with me, also some jerks tried to steal the car in England and thats why some windows and the taillights are broken, but thats fine with me.
The IC was disassembled because the low front end would have scratched on the ramp of the trailer:

We did it by ourself, it's was the first time for us, we fucked up the front ones and decided to do the rear ones better and it worked pretty well, however i'll go for front 20mm overfender anyway. :bigok:

I'm jealous.
Where the hell do you get all of the money for this?!
Btw, is that Aztec red on your hatch?

It's a special mixed color from a paint shop, the biggest part of it is VW Flash Red.
