i dont like the wing tho

on those concept pics, they shouldve painted the black parts below the headlights and grill

i think that looks weird like how it is

YEEEEESSS!! It doesn't look like the concept car anymore! They took styling points from it, and it looks like it was put into fusion with the R34 body style and stance.

I like it a lot. (And I hated the concept car).

The car looks very promising aerodynamically too.

!Zar!

This is one of the few, "concept cars" from this generation that I'm pleased with as a whole.

The roof line still has the jagged lines but I believe they will smoth that out.

I still like the whole package. Yea, kinda G35-esque, but then again the G35 is sexy, sooooo...I actually like the roof line personally. Over-all i think this looks more like a $100k sports car then the R34 did.

It's super hot as is.
I love the design, even the parts that some of you guys consider quirky.
Too bad I won't be able to trade my evo in on one, since the price is projected to be around $75k.

Rumor has it that it may be called a Nissan Skyline GTR in the US, due to name recognition.

They have commited to selling it as a Nissan GTR. The Skyline part though is not going to be included. At least thats what the last report I read said.

Wow! That's all I can say! The still photos are ok, but when you see the suspension compressed in the action photos, woooo, makes me want to sell a kidney to be first in line to buy one. There are still a few funky parts to the overall design, but I have a feeling those will grow on me and become endearing features as time goes on. I don't mind that it'll be called the "GTR" although it would be nice to see "SKYLINE" on there somewhere, but it won't be long until someone in the aftermarket comes out with decent badging to add on there. Viewed close the wing does look funny, but in motion, it almost looks like it's floating above the trunk, with the two-tone coloring it has. My guess is that it's all Carbon Fiber, just color-matched on the top half. When this car comes out, it's going straight to the top of my list of dream cars. wow. As far as possible engines, just looking at the hood and the huge exhaust pipes, I'm willing to bet that it's a TT V8. Displacement maybe 4.2-4.5 liters? I can only imagine how much of a demon it would be with a few tweaks here and there, much like the holy grail RB engines. Oh well, i'm done rambling on. Thanks for the pictures, you've got me all excited about the GTR again!

Most reports state it will be a 3.7liter version of the new VQHR, but a TT version. So techinally a VQ37DETT.

its not looking bad to me. Definitely is looking like the Z's bigger brother. Which is ok by me. On top of that it will be a TT V6 though there is still debate on the engine size. Originally it was supposed to be a 3.3 destroked 3.5. Now people are saying its going to be a 3.7 hmmm

Man...the more I see pics of this car the more giddity I feel inside. Just like a little kid waiting for the new and badass toy to hit the market haha I love the styling....its bold, aggressive and damn sexy...worth the price tag I believe.

We all know it will have a VQHR variant motor in it...Nissan wouldn't spend so much money in development in that motor and not try to use it across as many platforms as possible. Also, we know the block of this new VQ can withstand up to 1000hp stock. The one thing that is still up in the air is the internal work and head work that is done for the GT-R. Rumor says Cosworth is involved with this....but I guess we have to wait until 2007 for confirmation.

Either way....this car...or the next M with the new VQ is going to be my next toy haha

It wouldn't make sense IMO. The V8 is heavier and costly to modifiy (IMO) and properly cost more to produce given the numbers are not as high as the VQ. Another thing is they are trying to compete with the Porsche 911 Turbo, such as the one in the background in this pic...
http://www.japanesecarfans.com/spyphotos/6061010.003/6061010.003.mini1L.jpg

The Porsche has been using a 6cycl, twin turbo, AWD setup for awhile and I can see Nissan trying to mate up with that setup as much as possible.

As far as emissions goes....I'm pretty sure Nissan can make this pass emission laws worldwide. Lets just hope California doesn't try to sue them again. :D

Damn, those are huge exhausts for a production car. I still like the look of the older roof-line better, that kink in the c-pillar looks awkward and I don't like how high the top of the windshield is. Also, it really doesn't look anything like a G35, so I don't know what you people are complaining about. It looks almost exactly like the last concept they showed, I'm impressed that they aren't dumbing it down for production.

I also think it looks way better than the R34. I never liked the R34, it was lumpy and badly proportioned. The greenhouse was too small for the rest of the body, the rear fenders were ridiculously large and tall, and the rear end looked rather cheap. Only the front looked good.

if you guys want to take a shot at guessing where the new roof line came from look no further than the Ken Mary GTR from the 70's. I would hazard a guess they were looking at all the old Skylines and trying to incorporate design cues from across the generations.
Look at the 350z and you see the same styling approach. It has touches of the S30 combined with touches of the z32 to come up with a design that crosses them and enters another area while staying true to heritage. You all may feel it does not look like a GTR, based on the whole race coupe styling of the last generations of the R series. Though fact is Skyline GTR's have been through many design changes over the years. If you look at it carefully you see Ken Mary, you see R series derivative style front Facia and rear end. Its not bad and of course its not going to please everyone, chassis design changes rarely do. For the people that diss, your lost on the fact that at least its back and we are going to get it!! Its a step in the right direction for Nissan to make this car finally the world car it should have always been IMHO.

Yea, it will be a 250sx if they even go with that nomenclature. Remember that the 240sx was not exactly successfull on US soil. Though a small RWD model may be in the works (see Urge concept for reference), I don't see them going with the SX name again. I keep my fingers crossed that Nissan will build another car along these lines. It would be so choice.

I'd love to see a real sivia make it to the US... I know the S15 is "dead" but if nissan released them here for like a limited time (Like only 2,000 cars or something) I'd buy one in a heart beat. Even if they put infiniti badges on it. It's not like they styling is outdated or anything.. The only thing that might have to get changed to make it look like every other new car is but LED tailights on there..(Last time i checked or saw one it didn't look like it had LED tails or course I've only seen them in daylight). I'm so in love with that car...

I'm so in love with that car...
well this has been covered on numerous occasions in the past but I will reiterate for the newer members sake. S series chassis's cannot be built nor will they be built anymore for two reasons. At the end the S15 was not a successful car for Nissan in Japan. It was to expensive for what it was. So it did not sell well. Two: The S series factory assembly line no longer exists. In typical Japanese fashion once Nissan ended the series a few years back they disassembled that particular assembly as it was actually an outdated assembly line.
There was not enough popularity at the end of the series line to even think of bringing them back nostalgia wise. Plus we are talking about Japan not the U.S. Japanese very much think along the lines of replacing stuff every 5 years anyways. They want new stuff not yesterdays news.
Add to that there are so many 180sx's on used lots in Japan for cheap if someone really wants a S series chassis they can get them dirt cheap.

Well whatever case the next basemodel rwd car they offer will be a far supperior successor to the 240sx. Double wishbone reigns supreme!

the proto type wing looks really similar to the 350z nismo wing . . and the new VQ35HR will first be put in the 2007 350z model of course non turbo but nissan claimed 330horse to the crank which is pretty powerful . .

The new VQ35HR is already in the new G35 sedan.
