im going to buy some 180sx tail lights from someone tomorrow, but he doesnt have the center piece, will the lights work with my oem center tail light piece? or will it not fit??????

Depends.

180SX tail lights will fit.

180SX Type-X (Kouki) tail lights will fit, so long as you have the correct center and under garnsihes.
