Its possible, although with your setup it might not be. Your springs/shocks might get in the way, If you had nice coilovers you could run wider wheels since the coil is smaller. I will look into this a little more for you as I might need to get 9" in back of my s14 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Too keep stock tire circumfrence, I planned on a 245/40/17 out back, and a 225/45/17 front. Talk about a WIDE tire for such a small car. MAn that would be vicious.
Oh, BTW; is 23.5lbs per wheel light or heavy? They make this in a black center... http://www.discounttiredirect.com/pr...nima.large.jpg |

I saw a 97 240 with 9's up front and 10's out back, now that's too much.
I'm getting all 8's, so I can rotate my tires. |

I wouldnt run a taller wheel in front, go with a 40/40 ratio for the tires, 40f and 45 rear would offset handling, and might cause rubbing rroblems up front since the springs are bigger in front.
23.5 lbs looks about right for the wheel... Lightweight wheel go from 12-16lbs Normal = 17-25lbs Heavey would be like 26-30lbs I had them nasty pymp wheels on my Z and they weighted about 28lbs, you could tell they were slowing it down and putting too much rotational mass on the suspension, it would stick in a turn but would get pushed out in the corners (very dangerous) Stock 15" 7 spoke s13 wheels weight 21lbs! for a 15" thats heavy. My 17" 5ZR wheels weight 18.5lbs and they fell just about like the stock wheels because the larger the diameter of the tire the more rotaional mass there is on the outside wheels therefore hurting your handaling capabilities. Here are some pics of a s13 with 17x8.5" and 17x9.5 on. I know the owner has coilovers and some mad camber/caster/toe settings. Take a look... |

205/55/16 is standard tire on the S14 SE model. SO a 245/40/17 in the rear only makes it .648% off.
225/45/17 in the front would be .379% off. 8.5" rim = at least a 245 width. 7.5" = at least 215, but a 215/45/17 is too small for circumfrence. I'm using http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html which might be a bit off. TireRack tells us to use a 215/45/17 for an 8" wide wheel. I've seen that size tire on a 8" wide wheel. Way too much rol off. Talk about exposing your wheel lip. I'm going with a stagered wheel. I'm sure my tire size is right for the wheel, just not sure about the fender taking that much tire. That's a 16% width increase in the rear, and a 8% increase up front. Any ideas? |
